I meant to say "back to Lisa!" (Androgenetic Alopcia (AGA) Female Pattern)

» » Hi Fashiongal -
» »
» » I was just thinking about you the other day, about the fact that I
» haven't
» » seen any posts from you lately. How are you doing and how is your hair?
»
» » What is your current regime and is it working? Good to hear from you -
» » Lisa
»
» Hi Lisa!! Thanx for the message...I've been thinking about all my old
» "friends" on this site too :waving: !! That would be: you, delilah, Rae,
» eb, salis, and others that I don't always see on this site anymore. I am
» like you, probably, relegated to more of a state of resigned acceptance
» than the out-and-out fighter-chick I came out punching with. (Well, Lise,
» I apologize...I don't actually mean to speak for you; I'm speaking for
» myself and many others in whom I perceive this outlook shift on this site.)
» I think all of us, when we are hit with this bizarre, alternate-reality
» preoccupation that is hairloss, we react in fast-acting panic and combat
» mode against this foreign intruder on our lives. We're like: "thinning
» hair? ugly hair....WHAT?? That hair isn't mine!" and we struggle
» and fight to restore our mirror image and lifestyle to what was previously
» normalcy; we can't stand wasting time looking in the mirror to detect any
» slight change, and we really can't even BELIEVE that we're thinking twice
» about hair which we used to take for granted and not waste two seconds
» worrying about. Well, sister, as you may remember, I was on Rogaine and
» Proscar (cut into fourths, so I was ingesting 1.25 mg/day of it)for a year
» and a quarter or a year and a third, to no avail. My hair still slightly
» was thinning, and mind you, it's not a drastic TE. I think Steph has the
» same type of thinning I seem to be experiencing; not shedding abnormally,
» per se, but miniaturizing visibly (obviously I can't see the
» miniaturization of the follicles, but the miniaturization of the hair is
» quite obvious, and it is cycling much quicker.) Some people got really
» incensed when I spoke about how I had an unfortunate acceleration of my
» loss w/ Rogaine, but that's what happened to me and I had read it happened
» to many others. I know because I did an experiment and put Rogaine only on
» the one side of my head (the side that was much thicker naturally), and now
» that side is twice as thin. Delilah said her hair hasn't recovered from
» where she placed the Rogaine on her head, either. For some, it exacerbates
» (like us); for others, it helps for a while, but certainly not
» indefinitely. So....I decided to also go off the Proscar after almost a
» year and a half because no improvement was forthcoming and in fact, my hair
» continued to thin slightly. I still believe my thyroid is not optimized;
» my TSH at last reading was 4.0, hypo by any modern standards, but I've been
» doing lots of research on what CAUSES the thyroid to be hypo, because
» supposedly 20% of American gals over 25 are, and there are many causes
» which must be treated instead of simply supplementing w/ additional thyroid
» meds, no matter what they are. It's a little exhausting to always need to
» be one's own medical researcher, hair loss sufferer, thyroid disorder
» sufferer, demander of new medical tests, patient waiter of new treatments,
» loving wife and mother, professional career-gal, giving friend....ugh! A
» lot of energy is required of us hair-thinning gals to even stay SANE and
» effective in our lives, am I right :-P ?? So...I'm still up on my
» vitamins, iron, biotin and silicon, vitamin C, L-lysine, etc., and while it
» seems eons away, I check this site only sporadically to check for updates
» on the hair-multiplication via the stem-cell technology that seems to be
» the only hope for us run-of-the-mill,
» averagely-thinning-hair-in-our-early-forties gals who don't have a case of
» abnormal hormone shifts just yet, nor a case of abnormalcy in any real
» manner such as pcos. I'm just learning how to take time doing my hair for
» once, which I never had to do before; my hair would just be straight and
» pretty right out of the shower and I'm so low-maintenance that I wouldn't
» even blow-dry or style it; I'd just do it straight like Jennifer Garner's
» and I didn't have to think twice about it all day. Now, I have to spray
» volumizer and hairspray to thicken it up and pray to the high heavens that
» this darned hair multiplication would hurry their freakin' research along
» so we don't have to resort to wigs and such, but if that's the case, at
» least there are people like Tyra Banks being vocal about her fake hair and
» looking gorgeous and confident nevertheless. More power to her, but do we
» all have her money and resources to look just as perfect? No. Please
» forgive my late-night rant! The question is, sistah....how are you??? How
» is your hair?? What are you using and what are your results?? Love to
» you, my fellow LA denizen!! Oh! And what doctor did you end up seeing??
» Blessings....FG ;-)

Hi again, Lisa....I meant to say that 20% of American gals over 35, not over 25, are suffering from hypothyroidism. My brain is foggy as well in my early 40's! Another malady :-P ! ....FG
