Question for JL from Salis (Androgenetic Alopcia (AGA) Female Pattern)
'Hi Salis,
I'm in the US. My endo thinks that TSHs above 2.2 WITH symptoms should be treated. If someone had a TSH of 2.8 with NO symptoms...he would not treat. But I had all the classic hypo symptoms with of course hair loss being the big one.
Doctors used to think the normal range was 0.5-5.0. A few years ago, the Endocrinologist society (or what ever they call themselves) narrowed it to 0.5-3.0. I posted a link about it a few months ago. Most doctors are not aware of the new, more narrow range.
As far as T3, my doctor only checks Free T3, so I'm not really sure about your T3 reading.
