To Mauri (Spironolactone, Aldactone)
» Mauri, in reliance on yours and Delilah's experiences, I am going to see
» Dr. Redmond in August. I am being treated by a Dr. who prescribed me
» bioidentical estrogen and progesterone, spiro and proscar. I've been doing
» OK, but recently my shed is up after I learned that I'm experiencing
» "estrogen dominance." I feel that I need to try another route. I'm hoping
» Dr. Redmond, who specializes in hormones, can tweak my hormones and get me
» balanced again.
Hi LisaS,
Dont know what your dosages are but it was not until I up'd the finasteride to 5mg and the spiro to 200mg with the vivelle being raised also to .1mg patch that my hair started behaving:o))) I wont tell you my estrogen is not on the high side however I am a believer that some ppl. must have higher estrogen to get success. That is why I am still getting blood tests from time to time to see where it is registering. Unfortunately in peri it changes so much. One test I had was 170 and the other 110. However last year it was 160 in January and then 85 the next time. Its tricky and we know we dont want it to stay too high for too long. It may be in the near future that I will have to drop it down to .075mg again. Like Dr. Redmond says, some ppl. require more estrogen to keep hair and also to grow it. I dont think you will go wrong going to doctor Redmond. Make sure you take any blood test copies and let him know your dosages as well as how and when you hair has changed. Dont get me wrong, my hair has its days too but I can say I am happy and it does look tons better. No spots at least. Let us know how the appointent goes. Just be honest how you feel and have some questions written down that you might want to ask. I other words, get your money's worth:o))) I went twice but that was my decision. Im not a phone person and I just took off and flew back in February because I felt I was losing the battle with my hair. Actually if I had started all the meds when Dr. Redmond had told me, my hair probably would have started getting better sooner. I didnt:o(((( So if he tells you he thinks you need thyroid, I'd take it. I think the thyroid plus the estrogen has helped tremendously with my hair growth. My nails even began growing and they havent grown in years. Good luck.
