ť It's been a few months since I've posted but I'm 29 and have been
ť experiencing very gradual hairloss since 2006. This is the first year I've
ť done anything about it, and in Feb. I had my labs done and a scalp biopsy,
ť and was told it's consistent with AGA. None of my androgens were abnormal,
ť but judging from the fact that I also have acne, PCOS is a possibility.

ť I also got a partial hair piece back in July and posted photos of it. I
ť don't wear it except on special occasions. Everyone at work is so used to
ť how I look now (hair is flat/thin on top, but I cover it as well as I can)
ť and I'm afraid of the friction of the piece causing more loss, so it's an
ť off/on thing.

ť At my most recent visit with the Derm, they put me on Yasmin. It's only
ť been 2 weeks. No side effects, which I find surprising. I was worried it
ť would throw my emotions out of whack (and already being slightly prone to
ť mini-depressions, that wouldn't have been good). I know it's too early to
ť tell if it's doing anything but I guess I will keep a close eye on my
ť sheds.

ť The Derm suggested going on Rogaine, but I'm scared of dread sheds, and
ť frankly I don't know if I can commit to something like that for pretty much
ť the rest of my life.

ť My question about shampoo is which one should I get that has anti-DHT
ť properties? I've been using Nioxin but as far as I know, that only helps
ť with hair density. Should I look into Nizoral?

ť Thank you for the input, they're not putting me on Spiro quite yet because
ť they want to see how the first 3 mos. of Yasmin go...but I'm hoping for the
ť best.

If you are going to use Rogaine, use the foam, that makes a big difference, it does not contain propylene glycol and many people are very pleased with the foam.

As for shampoo, use Nizoral, despite popular belief that this is for dandruff only, Nizoral is anti inflammatory and is also a mild antiandrogen. It can leave your scalp dry so most people use it for no more than twice a week.
