Also, Victoria - if it is TE, then it doesn't matter what you do - the hair that is destined to fall out will fall out no matter how often you shampoo, what you use, etc.

Just in case the cause of the TE isn't your stress/weight loss/high fever:If you have to wait a long time before seeing your dermatologist, it might be worth seeing if you can get another doctor (family doctor, ob-gyn, etc.) to run some basic bloodwork - ferritin, iron, thyroid, and glucose.
