can diet cause 1 1/2 years of on going hair loss? (Diet & Hair Loss)

I have been losing my hair now for 1 1/2yrs. i never had thinning hair before. i had very thick and long tight curly hair soft, healthy that was my best feature always had compliments. i was on a diet 1 1/2yrs ago and took diet pills i was losing weight but i was eating then i became very sick with ulcers in my mouth and so on i really couldn't eat a thing and lost 15lbs. in two weeks. my weight started at 145in may and by august i was 118lbs losing most of it in the month of July.in mid August is when the hair losss started I've been to doctors some said it was just stress, then female hair loss(hormone levels were fine) I've been on spiro and propecia with no success the spiro made my menstrual cycle more messed up then it was and the propecia did nothing the 6 months that i was on it. I have had increased acne here and there, my periods are messed up i get them every two weeks then back to normal for a month then again every two weeks. My hair is dry, life less the texture has changed. i don't know what else to do. i feel that all these doctors really don't know a thing. this last endo. who isaw thinks it's the diet i was on, but that was a 1 1/2 years ago. can anyone help?
