Scalp Pain, burning scalp - what helped you (Scalp Inflammation, Irritations & Dermatitis)

posted by Anne, 15.02.2007, 21:20

My scalp pain and itch was so bad I wanted to scratch until it bled. I went on Yasmin, that pretty much solved it. I used Reactine 10mg/day (Zyrtec in the US, an antihistamine) to control it until the Yasmin kicked in. The anti-histamine was VERY effective at controlling it. My Dr. also prescribed 1% cortisone lotion but that didn't do much. I am currently using the Nioxin system (shampoo, conditioner, foam) and that helps too.

Nizoral by itself helped a bit but stopped working after a couple of months. But honestly the best thing for when you get acute scalp itch and burning attacks is an antihistamine pill.

HTH,

Anne :-)
