can diet cause 1 1/2 years of on going hair loss?? Heather (Diet & Hair Loss)

Yes, they did go up quickly, but my hair stayed the same in fact it got worse(the texture, brittle, loss of color dry. i was taking this for 8 months some of the dr's said that ferritin isn't the key thing in hair loss. Yes i'm eating much better now I've been eating a lot since last march and have gained 10lbs. Right now i'm not taking anything i'm waiting for the results of the new blood test that i took a week ago. Can hair grow back and restore it self after not growing for so long? i'm losing hope.
