Hi Lindy,

I am glad this helped. I would try to get an Rx (with or without insurance) for the doxepin and see how it goes. Maybe you would not need the prednisone. I do think the biggest factor is the heat inducing flushing which then causes a mast cell release, then the itching, then the inflammation and pain. If I have inflammation for more than 3 days, I get scaling. Right now, with my regimen, I have the inflammation under control and see no scaling.

I use Free & Clear Shampoo (www.nationalallergysupply.com or at CVS) & their conditioner. I would avoid anything with a fragrance (synthetic or natural). I can't use it b/c I am allergic to it, but that can aggravate the scalp and you could become allergic to it during this phase.

I would avoid hairspray or gel too. I spray it on my brush then brush it thru my hair without touching the scalp. It works okay. Better than nothing.

ť inflamed scalp due to no insurance at the present time (I graduate school
ť in a little over a month, thankfully!) but I have been/am going through
ť the TE process. My shedding has slowed way down, and my scalp is a lot
ť less itchy than it was, but it still gets a little bit itchy sometimes
ť during the day, and it still lookish pinkish and is kind of hot sometimes.
ť I have switched from washing every day to every other, and I now use an
ť all-natural shampoo because I think I was having a reaction to my other
ť one during the TE. Still, I have the inflamed scalp problem. I'm worried
ť that it is a bad sign of something, but for now, since symptoms have been
ť reduced, I'll continue to do what I'm doing and I'll try washing with cool
ť water like you said. Thanks again!
