fungus or yeast (Scalp Inflammation, Irritations & Dermatitis)

I have read that an overgrowth of fungus or yeast on the scalp can cause hairloss, would this be obvious to the eye? My head it very itchy at the moment and I am losing hair but I think the itchy is stress because I am losing hair. If it was fungus or yeast would I be able to see it on my scalp? Thanks
