Have you thought about seeing your derm for a prescription anti inflammatory? That might help. Normally my scalp hurts but doesn't itch. I switched to another shampoo (has the same ingredient that the other poster's shampoo had) which can cause itching and it does, but no redness and recently, no more scap pain! I was on a pretty heavy steriod a few months ago so maybe that caused the pain to disappear.
