TO JANE Hair Colour for hair LOSS & thinning hair (Hair Color)

Hi girls....I think maybe what Dakota meant about darker colors being better for the hair shaft is that it is possible to dye one's hair darker in a healthier way than lighter with a demi-permanent color that has NO peroxide and NO ammonia, because it simply DEPOSITS hair onto the lighter colored strands. But when you bleach your hair to make it lighter than it naturally is, the hair shaft, while plumped-up, is weakened and likely to look more damaged and be susceptible to breakage and frizzing. For example, "Loving Care" by Clairol has this mechanism of no peroxide and no ammonia and only colors the hairs that are lighter than the dye-color you choose on the box, and it washed out in 6-12 shampoos, but does not weaken the hair shaft as it is not bleaching it first and then depositing color on the bleached strands as other coloring mechanisms do. You don't have to go super-dark though; for example, if you are naturally blond, you can go any shade from your own natural color and darker. So for greys, the color will stick to the grays but not change the other strands unless you choose a color darker than your natural shade. HOWEVER, I am in 100% agreement that the darker your color, obviously it will be more of a contrast with the scalp color and show the hair loss in starker relief!! This is why older ladies with post-menopausal or other hair loss can camouflage their hair loss better if their hair is blond or grey! Look at Nicole Kidman, you don't notice her hair thinning as much because she's blond and her hair is the same color as her scalp. So for Asian, black, Indian, or Caucasian women like me with dark brown hair, the hair loss bites even worse because it would look weird to go blonde but you do see our hair loss more  I also heard from my dermatologist that coloring one's hair frequently contributes to hair loss as there is some chemical that's being studied that's in all hair color that damages the follicle because it's toxic. However, the hair companies make a mint and don't want this knowledge to get out so it's not in any studies at all. I'll keep you posted on what else she says on this subject when I see her next month. God bless you gals....FG ;-)
