I've had a lot of tests too, but I haven't had the antibodies test. I am going to ask for it. Doctors always get mad when you ask them to do the tests, they don't seem to like it when you're informed, but too bad. My thyroid tests are weird, the TSH is high, but my T3 and T4 are normal. How can that be, and what does it mean? I asked my doctor but was told my TSH is normal (it's 4 and I know it should be between 1-2) I was reading an interesting article in the paper a few weeks ago about how many people have undiagnosed thyroid conditions. One reason is that doctors rely on the old scales, where anything under TSH 5 is considered normal. A few, enlightened ones are using the newer guidlines, which reccomend no higher than 2.5, I believe. The article went on to say that so many people go on feeling unwell and doctors say there is nothing wrong, when in truth, they have a thyroid problem. Doctors know amazingly little about the endocrine system, its a very delicate thing and once thrown off balance, extremely difficult to correct. I'm still trying to find a holistic endocrinologist, preferable one who takes health insurance, although that is probably asking too much. I've yet to find any holistic doctors of any kind who take health insurance.
