The new format was implemented out of necessity as we are trying to encourage productive discussions free of bickering and derogatory comments. Many of you are fully aware of the misconducts in many of the male forums. 
Responsible posting is what we strive to accomplish here. Our goal is to facilitate more cross gender discussions as this will only serve to help us better in the search for a hair loss treatment.

If the response is positive, we will consider switching all existing topics to this new format. The new format has many new features that will render your discussions more productive. • Nov 13- Dec3, 2000: To all those who are concerned about General Forum # 5: First of all, we are extremely grateful to all your feedbacks and emails regarding certain posts and comments in the forum. We have been very tolerant and patient and would like to deal with the issue in a civilized manner. We do not wish to have to resort to censorship as this would defeat the purpose of an open forum. However, we would not rule out this possibility if the posts or comments in the forum take on a vulgar, rude or obscene direction. We can tolerate off-topic discussions but vulgarity and personal attacks have no place here. As much as we would like to create an open environment for genuine discussion for hair care and hair loss treatments for women, WE WILL RESORT TO CENSORSHIP if certain posts or comments are offensive in nature. If is unfair that the majority of the participants have to suffer because of the distasteful acts of a few. 
  However, do take note that there is a difference between a provocative comment vs an offensive one. Certain individuals are clearly in the business of provoking an argument of some sort. The best thing to do is to ignore those comments. 
  We have been monitoring the General Forum # 5 on a daily basis now. It appears that we are back on track with genuine discussion on hair loss.

  Our forum has continued to be plagued by rude or non hair related posts. If the posts are downright irrelevant or rude in nature, we have no problem deleting them immediately. The only problem is when the posts contain a mixture of rude comments and hair related info, then we get caught in an awkward situation. For one thing, HairSite does not wish to enforce censorship in the female forum. This defeats the purpose of open discussions. On the other hand, it would be extremely time consuming for us to go through each and every single post and edit out the rude comments. May I suggest that simply ignore those rude comments posted by people who intend to destroy this forum ? As long as we DO NOT ENGAGE in a discussion with the forum participant, the provocative comments will have nothing to feed off on. Please let us know what you think.
