Contrary to popular belief, African-Americans dye their hair no less frequent than caucasians. In 1999, Consumer Reports brought three do-it-yourself hair dyes to the test. These three hair dyes are all marketed to African-Americans: 1) Revlon's Creme of Nature, Clairol's Nice n' Easy, 3) Dark and Lovely.
In the experiment, participants followed each product's instructions exactly as recommended by the manufacturer. Almost 200 tresses of African-American hair were colored and the results were judged by a panelist of experts on hair coloring. The judges concluded that all three products did exceptionally well in covering
the gray. But when it comes to the quality of the color, the judges commented that there
was a wide discrepancy from one product to the other. Overall, the judges concluded that
Revlon's Creme of Nature gives the most natural looking among the three products tested. HairSite Editorial |
