Jerome Russell is probably the most innovative name when
it comes to hair color. Most people know about Jerome Russell because of
its broad spectrum of vibrant, vivid and easy to use hair color

Recently, Jerome Russell has introduced several lines of hair color
products that are perfect for women with hair loss or other hair and
scalp conditions.
Women with hair loss or certain scalp disorders are always at a dilemma
when it comes to hair color products. Hair dyes, especially permanent
hair dyes, are known to contain loads of harsh chemicals that can easily
promote hair loss and aggravate scalp dermatitis conditions.
In particular, harsh chemicals such as peroxide,
ammonia and p-Phenylenediamine are among the most problematic for women
with hair loss and scalp dermatitis. These chemicals are commonly found
in most permanent hair color products. For details about the damaging
effects of p-Phenylenediamine, or sometimes referred to as PPD or PPDA,
please read consumer alert section on PPDA. The Scientific Committee for
Cosmetics and Non-Food Products has made an official statement that p-Phenylenediamine
should not be used as hair coloring agents.
The hair color industry is gradually moving away from
permanent hair dyes in favor of temporary or semi-permanent hair color
products that are more chemical friendly and safe for the hair and
scalp. We have managed to find several products that are free of
peroxide, ammonia, methylene chloride,
fluorocarbon
and most imp-Phenylenediamine. While many of these products do not last
as long as permanent hair dyes, they are many times more gentle to your
hair and scalp and the trade-off is well worth considering.

This product would have made it to our most highly
recommended list if not for its p-Phenylenediamine (PPD / PPDA)
contents. If you have no allergic reactions to PPD / PPDA,
this is a product worth considering because it is peroxide and
ammonia free and does not contain lift deposit color or
metallic materials. This product is simple and easy to use, it
comes with a complete color kit and all you need to do is to
simply add water.

offers long lasting hair color. The entire kit contains
everything you need, eg: color powder, mixing bottle, plastic
gloves and instructions. You can use as much or as little as
you need, the rest can be safely stored for future use.
However, due to its PPD / PPDA content, we strongly recommend

Light Mountain PPD
free, Ammonia free & Peroxide free Products
Light Mountain Natural hair color is
one of the few products on the market that is PPD
free, peroxide free and ammonia free. It is a blend of 100% pure botanicals:
Lawsonia, Indigoferae and Cassia Auriculata, collectively referred to
as Henna. All hennas are a blend of these three botanicals. The
Lawsonia plant supplies the red shades, Indigoferae the black shades
and Cassia Auriculata is the neutral conditioner.
All Light Mountain henna application kit includes premium grade
henna-based hair color, detailed instructions, a pair of disposable
gloves so you can handle and apply the henna mixture without coloring

We
have also come across several semi-permanent hair color products that
would have made it to this list and possibly our all time favorites.
Similar to the products reviewed here, they are all chemically
friendly, peroxide free, ammonia free and does not contain p-Phenylenediamine.
In addition, they can last up to 40 washes. However, they only come in
dramatic and theatrical colors (such as pink, violet and platinum) and
