All Natural – Switching from Propecia to naturals
“I switched from Propecia because I was getting softer erection
and less semen when I ejaculated. If you compare you will find that
Propecia actually fights DHT differently than the naturals. Propecia
messes with your hormones, hence the sexual side effects. I have had no
sexual side effects with naturals and its working the same if not
better.”

under local anaesthetic and can measure approximately 0.5cm2 to 2cm2 in
area depending on your hair density. The skin is processed in the
laboratories at Intercytex Ltd to form a suspension of DP cells. The
manufacturing process takes approximately 4 weeks. The DP cells will
then be injected back into a small balding area on your head (under
local anaesthetic). Strict procedures are in place to ensure that the
TrichoCyte made from your skin samples will only be used to treat you.
50 - 100 injections will be applied, each containing 1 micro litre (very

Research – Hair follicle stem cells in the lower bulge form the
secondary germ, a biochemically distinct but functionally equivalent
progenitor cell population, at the termination of catagen.
It seems that the dermal papilla derive from stem cells originating
in the bulge region of the hair follicle. This transformation occurs
during the catagen stage. As the stem cells morph into dermal papilla,
they lose some of their stem cell qualities. However, if the bulge stem
cells become injured (from plucking or whatever), the dermal papilla can
morph back into stem cells and move to the bulge region to replace the
injured/lost stem cells.

All Natural & Supplements: Protandim to be Released
Feb 2005 ! If you believe that anti-oxidants can help fight hairloss,
you may want to look into the Feb 2005 release of Protandim.
According to the distributor, this product has been demonstrated to
decrease oxidation by as much as 60% in humans in just the first 30 days
of intake. Protandim is not an antioxidant. It works by inducing
the body to produce more of its own natural antioxidant enzymes, eg:
Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT) and Glutathione Peroxidase (GPX)
etc. to fight oxidation. Protandim allows these enzymes to be
produced within the cells where oxidative stress actually occurs.
This is in contrast to traditional antioxidant supplements which have to
pass significant digestive and absorption barriers.

All Natural & Supplements: Beta-sitosterol Now The
Most Popular Supplement in the Forum. Lately many in the All
Natural & Supplements forum have added Beta-sitosterol to their
regimen. Some even reported good results from it. Here’s a brief
description about this supplement: “Beta-sitosterol is the active
ingredient in saw palmetto berries, which have been used for centuries
to treat patients with prostate and urinary problems. The active
ingredient in saw palmetto as well as other herbal remedies such as
pygeum, stinging nettle, and pumpkin seeds is beta-sitosterol. One
capsule usually contains 300mg of beta-sitosterol. You would have to eat
2 lbs. of saw palmetto to get the same amount of beta-sitosterol one
300mg capsule. This is 3000 times more potent than saw
palmetto.”. Some recent comments from people who reported good
results with this supplement. Click here for more info.

Topical: Shiseido To Introduce New Product Containing
ADENOSINE. Leading Japanese cosmetic manufacturer Shiseido
announced that it has discovered a hair-growth property called
adenosine, one of the in vivo substances that exist in the human body.
According to Shiseido, studies have shown that adenosine directly
affects hair papillae, a key in hair production; consequently, the
output of FGF-7, a hair-growth factor, is increased. The product
has received approval as an active ingredient for medicated cosmetics
from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Launch date: March

Effectiveness as a Hairloss Treatment.
Recent studies indicate that the “effect of minoxidil is mediated by
adenosine, which triggers intracellular signal transduction via both
adenosine A1 and A2 receptors, and that the expression of sulfonylurea
receptor 2B in dermal papilla cells might play a role in the production
of adenosine.”

Topical: Should Coal Tar Products Carry Cancer Warnings?
Many of us use shampoos formulated with coal tar to treat dandruff and
certain scalp inflammatory conditions. There are discussions whether
topical treatments containing coal tar are dangerous. There are in fact
studies which show that coal tar can cause cancer if applied topically.
For example, a study conducted by University Medical Center Nijmegen,
The Netherlands suggested that “because of the potential
carcinogenicity of coal tar, as clearly demonstrated both in animal
studies and from occupational exposure, careful consideration should be
given to the use of coal tar preparations in dermatological practice.”

Education: Hair Length & Hair Diameter.
Courtesy of TAMGOHL “On a normal head of hair, hairs achieve their
maximum diameter when they are at approximately 25% of their eventual
length. After they hit their peak thickness, hair shaft diameters
decline little by little over the remaining length of the growth phase.
Thus, for the vast majority of the growth phase, hairs are actually
getting thinner. Also, hair shaft diameter correlates with hair
length -- i.e., longer hair is thicker hair.”

Pattern Baldness.
A study by Wright State University School of Medicine conducted a study
to examine the genetics of male pattern baldness. The purpose of the
current study was to explore the relationship between family history and
expression of AGA in a sample of men from the general community. The
study concluded that “the probability of male pattern hair loss is
dependent on family history and age. Hair loss in a man's father also
appears to play an important role in increasing a man's risk of hair
loss, either in conjunction with a history of hair loss in the mother or
hair loss in the maternal grandfather.”

The importance of inducing endogenous (the body’s production) SOD,

to increase its production of SOD is significant because scientists have
demonstrated that exogenous SOD (ex. Supplements) when administrated
