ABSTRACT FROM: Texas Tech University MSN degree 1993 dissertation, p.101
AUTHOR Karvas, Connie Carnes
THE ARTICLE TALKS ABOUT:
  • This articles does not deal with hair loss treatments. However, it confirms the negative impact that hair loss has on a person's self-esteem and confidence. Since many people casually discard hair loss as a non-issue to a person's general well-being, this article serves to prove that hair loss can be very damaging to a person's self-esteem instead.
  • According to the author, the treatment of breast cancer has caused a lot of women to lose their hair which seriously affected their self-esteem. In a survey about women's feelings about hair loss as a result of the mastectomy, about 75% of the participants "describe hair loss as equal to or worse than the loss of the breast".
