This is how it all started. About a month ago, we found out about Dr. Gho's
website, www.hairmultiplication.com (not
up yet, so please do not try). We have verified that the registrant of the website is
indeed Dr. Gho. Now could this be a prankster's work ? We do not think so. The website was
registered back in March 2000 and if someone intended to play a joke on us, he or she
would have announced the website in the HM forum a long time ago. On the contrary, this
website was kept very quiet until July when we initiated contact with Dr. Gho.
Soon after we found out about Dr. Gho's website, HairSite
initiated contact with Dr. Gho. The email address (a Netherland address) we used is
exactly the same as HairSite's first correspondence with Dr. Gho, so we do not suspect any
foulplay in this. To see our first correspondence with Dr. Gho, please go to Dr. Gho's
Summary page at

On July 17th, we received a reply from Dr. Gho. The following is
Dr. Gho's reply, totally unedited:

Dear David,
Referring to your E-mail and facsimile, I thank you for giving me an opportunity to
respond on all the reactions of the discussion group ?Hair multiplication?. As you know,
we are a research and development clinic. One of our projects is ?Hair multiplication?.
Although we've done the whole procedure in our own institute, we have to standardize the
procedure. It looks from the outside an ?easy? procedure, and it is a patient- and
physician- friendly method, however the practical implication for the procedure is far
from easy.
As you know, the procedure consists of three steps :
The first step is plucking of the hairs. In this phase we use some new instruments, which
have to be certified. We also have to standardize the different types of usable hair
follicles, the minimum lengths of the follicles, the transportation media, vials etc.
Then the next step, the cultivation of the cells is more difficult. The media used as well
as the additives has to be standardized as well. We also developed new instruments for the
cultivation of the hairs, and these have to be certified as well.
By the third step, the injection of the cells, we use electrical equipment, special
syringes and needles, which has to be certified as well.
At this moment we are busy to get the ISO-certification for the whole procedure. With this
certification and handbook, we are certain that wherever the procedure is preformed, the
procedure is the same and same results can be obtained. As soon as we get the
certification, we are able to train physicians, medical personnel and laboratory
assistants.
Besides the certifications, there are some other practical subjects which gives us
headaches to standardize :
? The transportation of the tissue and cells. In most countries the transportation of
viable tissue/cells are restricted with so many rules and laws you don't want to know.
? All the used (disposable) laboratory materials and equipment has to be available around
the world.
? The physicians, medical personnel and laboratory assistants as to be updated frequently
by workshops.
? The special developed materials, instruments and equipment has to produced, in stock as
well as delivered around the world without any obstacles.
? The licensing has to be arranged with the clinics, so we can keep a little bit control
over the method. We don't want the situation that this procedure is performed in the
backyard of the physician.
These subjects will be handled by Jos Fleskens, our managing director, so I have my hands
free to handle the scientific part of the procedure.
And indeed, we also registered the domain www.hairmultiplication.com. In the future, this
web-side will be used for patients as well as physicians for the last updates of the
protocol.
Of course, there are also other practical problems to be solved, but I hope that you can
understand our situation, and hope that you understand that I also want to treat patients
today rather than tomorrow.
I hope that I have given you sufficient information, and I suggest to keep in contact once
per three months,
Yours sincerely, from a sunny Holland,
Coen Gho.
