We are printing a correspondence HairSite had with someone in Europe just to show that
baldness research is seriously lacking in the U.S.
QUOTE
Dear Hairsite-Team,
Unfortunately your campaign to find a cure for baldness only talks about hair
multiplication. In our opinion hair multiplication may be a step forward, but surely not
the cure, that we all want. There are many unsolved problems and disadvantages with HM:
Kevin Mc Elwee, a researcher at the German University of Marburg points out, that there
are major problems with the hair growth direction, that probabaly cannot be controlled
yet. Other problems include the risk of cyst or even tumor formation, very high costs,
unsatisfactory density and so on. Furthermore up to now there is no academic publication
about an effective hair multiplication transplant in animals. So first it must be proven,
that this works in animals, before human studies should be done. Nobody has seen any
human, that was treated by Dr. Gho. Last but not least nobody knows, if the multiplicated
hair is permanent or will fall out after some time.
So we think, that are a lot of unsolved problems and only very few people are working on
that procedure. In our opinion gene therapy will offer the final cure for baldness in the
foreseeable future, maybe even before hair multiplication bcomes available. So we
will found an offical organization in Germany on 27. August. The organization will
be named "Initiative zur Förderung der Alopezie-Genforschung" (could be
translated with Initiative to support alopecia genetic research) or short Infagen. Our
website can be found at http://www.infagen.de We try to have an English version soon. We
are already in contact with some laeding genetic researchers, e.g. Dr. Jorge Frank (who
worked in the laboratory of Dr. Christiano) and AntiCancer Inc.
Soon we will contact Dr. Christiano, Dr. Cotsarelis, Dr. Crystal and Prof. Fuchs. We want
to fund their research with as much money as possible. So we depend on donations and
membership dues. Donations to our organization will be tax deductible.
So we hope, that you also want to cooperate with us, as many people visit your website. If
you really want to find a cure, you should also support genetic research, we think.
Thank you
Andreas
