Follicle multiplication procedures - this could be the most exciting breakthrough in hair transplant technology. About two months ago, one of HairSite readers from the Netherlands informed me that a hair transplant specialist over there has found a new hair transplant technique that would allow him to dissect a single hair follicle into several follicles for hair transplant purposes. With this technique, it will give new hope to hair transplant patients who have limited donor hair. As we all know, hair transplant is beneficial to people who have sufficient donor hair. People who have extensive baldness are usually not good candidate for surgical hair restoration procedures because there will not be enough permanent hair follicles to justify the surgery.  With the follicle multiplication procedures, people can actually double or triple the amount the donor hair that they have.

While I am trying to collect more hard evidence and information about this breakthrough, Nu/Hart, a surgical hair restoration clinic in the US,  announced that they will be offering this surgical technique called "Hair Multiplication Procedures". Although I am not certain if Nu/Hart's "Hair Multiplication Procedures" is the same as technique practised by the hair transplant surgeon in the Netherlands, they both sound awfully similar. According to Nu/Hart, with the "Hair Multiplication Procedures", they can strategically dissect a single hair follicle into several and perform a hair transplant procedures that can achieve two to three times the thickness that people would get in a traditional procedure.

I am sure the rest of the hair restoration industry is going to catch on very quickly and offer their version of follicle multiplication procedures.
