/ Reference – RU 58841 RUM-myristate
discussion
“Results: While receptor binding experiments proved the almost
complete loss of binding to the androgen receptor by ester formation,
RUM is rapidly metabolised to the potent antiandrogen RU 58841 by
cultured human skin cells. Cellular viability was not impaired.”

Topical – Fluridil Updates.
“3.5 months and still going. Im not at a point yet where i can
access its efficacy, but i can say that it doesnt cause me any
problems other than slight dryness of my hair, and i believe that only
became a problem when i started applying it in the morning right after
my hair became fully dry out of the shower, and let it sit in all day
until the next morning. Otherwise it somehow makes my hair look even
better after i apply it. I would say with confidence my hair line has
continued to subtly slip back despite its application, but thats
pretty expected with any hair loss product.”

Topical / Reference – Liposomes vs traditional delivery
mechanisms.
“A liposome has the same basic structure as a cell's membrane(fatty
acids). This means that once in touch with a membrane it
"melts" with it introducing its content inside the cell. So
the medicine is not wasted but gets cleanly inside the cell and thus
is a much better approach to just put in the skin surface and hope it
will get inside somehow. In addition as it doesn't contain anything
that can irritate the skin it has more benefits over alcohol-based
products.”

Topical – Alpecin (coffee) testimonials
I have been using Alpecin Shampoo and After Shampoo Liquid for about
2.5 months. I was having a pretty good shed and it stopped it
immediately. Without question it has made my vellus hair at the
temple/hairline go termial. I have tried everything to make these
hairs go terminal and I think this is finally doing the trick. I'm not
sure about any regrowth yet because its very difficult to tell if the
terminal hairs are coming in are all from the vellus I had or are
simply new. I am finally on my way from a NW 2 to a NW 1. This is
terrific news!

(about 10 years ago) though to be the cure, or at least blow minox
away, and the early studies did, granted what was released (trichomin)
was alot weaker then what was to go to FDA trials, but there is solid
science behind this...it is an SOD with major backing.”

“It is a cream. The cream has darkened over the last thirty days, so
a week ago, I started to store it in the refridgerator. The scent of
licorice, once so strong when I first opened the bottle, is now much
weaker. The product is soothing to the skin. It disappears into the

Topical – Minoxidil opinions.
Minoxidil was and is a high blood pressure medication (in pill form
called Loniten). Minoxidil was found to grow hair only after it had
been on the market as a high blood pressure medication for many years.
Very little of the minox applied TOPICALLY will be absorbed into the
bloodstream and it should have little, if any, systemic effects
(rapid, irregular heart rate, etc.). Minox does not interfere in any
way with DHT. Studies suggest that very little of the
topically-applied minoxidil actually penetrates the skin - even less
likely is penetration to the point of absorption into the bloodstream.

Topical – Fluridil testimonials.
Right away I noticed a cosmetic improvement in my hair, in that it
appears to have some sort of cosmetic hair thickner, probably not
unlike any of the commecial products you can buy in any drugstore. I
got somehow the same results with Triaxon which I used for years. It
made my hair look and feel better, it made it look thicker and
healthier, but it did not "grow" hair, and so far the jury
is still out on eucapil.

cost about seventy dollars, including shipping. The contents are a

clear that this is a cosmetic product, not a drug intended to treat or
cure any disease.”

used fluridil for about 8 months with good results. But after getting
gyno from propecia after 6 years of use and having to have surgery to
remove it. I think I will have to stop using fluridil. Dont know if it
can give you gyno but don’t want to take that chance.”

- Growth of short hairs at the hairline, they are getting longer and
longer (which indicates that further loss has stopped)

“Hedgehog is one of many cell-signaling pathways that scientists are
scrutinizing. And Curis hopes it will work wonders on thinning pates
of both males and females. When you see a lustrous head of hair,
chances are it's at least partly due to healthy Hedgehog signaling,
which prompts the body's multitalented stem cells to proliferate
around follicles, initiating hair growth. By activating Hedgehog,
Curis' drug targets hair growth at its root, so to speak.”

Topical – Kerasome, members’ opinions.
“Kerasome, on the other hand, contains real human hair particles and
thus has the same sheen, textural qualities, and color variation as
human hair. It blends in seamlessly with the users own hair. Although
a variety of different colors are available, a perfect match is not
necessary as real hair isn’t all the same color and neither is the
product. Kerasome is also effective in covering graying roots.”

to more easily commit cell death). Also, an upregulation of TGF-beta2

plasma markers of GSH and SOD are not raised when these are supplied
orally; therefore, effective transport into the bloodstream via
liposomaldelivery as found in OXICELL is preferential.1The transdermal
method of delivery, known as liposomal delivery, is one in which lipid
spheres called liposomes surround GSH and SOD, transporting it through
the skin until it reaches the blood supply"

Topical: Adenosine Responsible for Minoxidil’s
Effectiveness as a Hairloss Treatment.
Recent studies indicate that the “effect of minoxidil is mediated by
adenosine, which triggers intracellular signal transduction via both
adenosine A1 and A2 receptors, and that the expression of sulfonylurea
receptor 2B in dermal papilla cells might play a role in the
production of adenosine.”

Topical: Should Coal Tar Products Carry Cancer
Warnings?
Many of us use shampoos formulated with coal tar to treat dandruff and
certain scalp inflammatory conditions. There are discussions whether
topical treatments containing coal tar are dangerous. There are in
fact studies which show that coal tar can cause cancer if applied
topically. For example, a study conducted by University Medical Center
Nijmegen, The Netherlands suggested that “because of the potential
carcinogenicity of coal tar, as clearly demonstrated both in animal
studies and from occupational exposure, careful consideration should
be given to the use of coal tar preparations in dermatological
practice.”

Topicals: Is liposomes/nanosomes a superior and cost effective
vehicle for delivering minoxidil ?
A study by AmorePacific R&D Center, Yongin-si, Korea showed that
“there was no significant difference in the activity of anagen
induction of C57BL/6 mouse between 3 % minoxidil solution (propylene
glycol and ethanol) and 0.5 % minoxidil nanoparticle solution.”.
Bryan raised an interesting issue as to whether liposomes/nanosomes
are uniquely able to do anything that ordinary vehicles can't do, when
simply used in larger amounts and/or concentrations. Click here for a
lengthy discussion.
