If you scroll down to item 21 you'll see what I'm talking about when I talk about products that enter the hairshaft and then expand once inside the shaft. When they expand they theoretically expand the hairshaft as well. This is called a volumizer.
A thickener on the other hand coats the hair shaft thereby increasing it's diameter (making it thicker).
Either a volumizer or thickener can be used in combination with a root-lifter. But I do not think you would want to use a root -lifter, volumizer, and thickener all at once because it could all be so heavy that it would weight your hair down and make it look flat.
Pick the right volumizer OR the right thickener, and then add a root-lifter, and I think many of us would see significant improvement in the appearance of our hair.
