Propecia Q (Propecia, Avodart, Spiro, DHT & hormones ...)

Hello all

Been on Propecia for 10 years now and it had been great. No sides at all and it truly helped with hair loss. Now I am worried though because I feel that it is losing it's effectiveness. Is there anything that I can do to strengthen it again? Should I go off it for a while and get back on? Over the last 3 weeks I added Beta sis and Pygeum.

Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Well you said any ideas, so here goes: get Dutasteride from www.inhousepharmacy.com (Dr. Reddy's if cost is an issue). Buy 99% aloe vera from Trader Joe's. Every morning squeeze the 0.5mg into a dallop (some people say it should be 30 ml but I am not so exacting) of aloe vera. Mix it up. Rub it onto your scalp for a total of 3 minutes more or less (including initial application time) and do this every day.

For the first few days you might get side effects from the Dutasteride which also enters your bloodstream. For me the sides included headache, libido flagging, and foggy thinking sometimes. It should subside. The beauty of applying Dut straight to your head is it would likely do a much better job of suppressing scalp DHT than oral Dut or Finasteride ever really can. If you minimize the time it's on your scalp, on the other hand, you are likely minimizing its entry into the bloodstream in the full quantities that cause the full side effects that people complain about with Dut (including me; I've had headaches and a flagged libido, though the latter hasn't been a problem since I wanted to chill in the "burning up the ladies" department.

To counter some of Dut's possible "breast" side effects, I take Super Miraforte from Life Extension. I take two of the tablets per day, not the four they suggest. One can find it online for about $32.

Propecia Q

Well, though I am no total stranger to Goingallout's suggestion (actually, I shared with him an excerpt from an "how to" book about topical dut), I really would not advise it in the first place. In my case, having had good results with finasteride, oral dutasteride was a real bane. I got gynecomastia from it and no improvement in the hair department. This drug IS dangerous and for alleviated its effects might be through the topical route, I still consider it a risk.
Your natural option is a one that proved effective in my case: gingko biloba + 600mg nettle root have enhanced the effects of the 2.5mg fin I take daily. I 've noticed that my kicking time with fin was 35 days. Rather expect 45 - 60 days with nettle root (beta sis). So, wait another month until these potential enhancing effects kick in. If nothing happens, you still have the option of upgrading your fin dosage. The difference between 1mg and 2.5g is big in my personal case. But the side effects are as well... So, this latter solution may be arguable versus topical dut.

Propecia Q

Thanks Guys

Will upping my propecia from 1mg to 2.5mg really help? Should I take the 2 propecia pills at the same time?

Propecia Q

If you're a good responder to finasteride, upping the dosage should be very efficient. But there agan, it is dangerous because whereas 1mg didn't give me any noticeable sexual side effect, 2.5mg did. And you see it only 3 months after upgrading, that is after the kicking of the effect on hair. Then you don't feel like giving up since you know you'll shed everything you've just gained and so you're trapped! Carry on with the betasis and pygeum. Had I known sooner that betasis could enhance fin's effect, I'd never had taken the plunge with 2.5mg. My libido is now weak and likely to remain so. Give it another month all the more since betasis is beneficial sexwise because it increases free T.

Don't you know that chrysin doesn't work to inhibit aromatase? You're throwing your money away.

Propecia Q

So you think I should stick with Pygeum 500mg and Beta Sis 128mg daily along with propecia? How long should i take it for? I've been on that regime for about 3 weeks. I am really worried that Propecia alone has stopped working.

Are you sure about this pygeum dosage? Is it not rather 50 mg?
Yes I think you must stick to this and wait a month. Upgrading finasteride is premature and dangerous.

No, finasteride's effectiveness may not have completely faded out. Its chemical ability remains the same. You may simply have developped more androgenic receptors on your scalp.
