When Do You See Results? (Hair Transplant)

Should someone be worried if they have not seen anything at the 4 1/2-5 month post ht phase? Thanks

Hey Robby,

At 4-5 month things are really just beginning. Normaly people just START to see growth at the 4 month mark, some people do not start to see growth until they reach the 5 month mark. I would not worry :) 4.5 months is very early in the game.

When Do You See Results?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not seeing anything at all yet, maybe I'm just a bit impatient. I'm trying to excercise, eat well, take vitamins, and do the lasercomb(started about two weeks post op, and without the 'teeth' of the comb for a long time). I was just curious, what post op factors might contribute to a negative result? I do drink once and awhile and have the very occassional cigarette, but nothing 2 weeks pre/and post surgery. I just hope this turns out, spent all my dough on trying to 'get it right.' Thanks

You should start seeing something very soon, like now. Who did your procedure?

If you get a good camera that is 6 or 7 megapixels you can take close up pictures of your tranplanted area, and when put on the computer and zoom in, you should be able to at least see new hair sprouts breaking the surface of the skin. With a good camera the images will not lose their clarity when zoomed in.

Some examples of these types of photos are in my blog:

More specifically check my 3 month mark photos after the second proceure. You can see the new spouts breaking the surface of the scalp which are not so evident simply by looking in the mirror.

I didn't see anything until 7-8 months and it peaked at about 10 months.

stichmeup-how did yours turn out?

Maybe we are both late growers, did you get the 'full effect' of the ht? Thanks

Give it 4-6 months and stay away from the sun!

Waiting for growth is a stressful process considering the hair transplant may have caused commonly temporary loss (shock loss) as a result of the transplant. At the six month mark, you should be seeing new growth on the recipient areas. Once the hairs are transplanted, they go into shock then a dormant phase from approx. 3 to 25 weeks. During this time, we advise our patients to wear a thick hat over the scalp for 6 months if they are exposed to prolonged sun exposure.

Hi,

At this point, you should be fine to enjoy conventional saunas a couple times a week. No problems there but please stay away from the sun. It would be different if you were in the tanning bed. Tanning beds don't have a positive affect on post-op results, and if you do then wear a very thick cloth to cover you scalp. Good luck!

My advice is not medical advice.

I've been in the sauna maybe twice a week since about week 4, do you think that's alright? Just some minor itchiness in there at first, but i never scratched. Thanks

Absolutely. You will be fine in a conventional sauna but remember to stay out of the sunlight for extended periods of time for up to and including 1 year. Months from now, you will know that you are getting growth by what your peers see.

Best of luck!

I'm not sure if i can handle waiting four months just to see if the grafts did take. That must play with your mind a little. It's early though. I would be more worried about smoking :)

When Do You See Results?

I thought the procedure would be the worst part of the whole experience, but that was a cake walk. Waiting for the growth to kick in really messes with your mind. Between the compulsive hours spent looking in the mirror to see any signs of new growth and then comparing said growth to every other patient photo I can find on patient's blogs, my oh my... I think I am losing my mind. lol

I am just past the four month mark now and I'm starting to see the growth pick up little by little. It's a heck of a waiting game. Hang in there, just have to have a little faith..
