Nashville makes cut for follicle-friendly cities

Nashville's not a bad place to battle a hairline recession according to a study by Rogaine.
The maker of men's hair regrowth products ranked Music City No. 23 on its list of the best U.S. cities for regrowing hair.
Cities were ranked according to such resources as barbershops per capita, number of hair regrowth clinics and sales of hair restoration products.
The top three cities for growing hair in the study were Miami and Jacksonville, Fla. and Birmingham, Ala.
"We were surprised by these finding," said Bert Sperling, president of Sperling's Best Places, in a release. "It seems that traditional glamour hotbeds might be taking a back seat when it comes to style, as cities like Miami...start to define themselves as style centers."
The bottom three cities for regrowing hair were Pittsburgh, Columbus, Ohio and Riverside, Calif., which were described as showing "a clear absence of dedicated hair restoration physicians and sales of men's hair regrowth products."
An addendum to the study, a "Hair Aware" study fielded by market research firm StrategyOne, examined national perceptions of hair loss among American men.
Among the companion study's findings:
- Fifty percent of men surveyed would rather deliver a large public speech then lose their hair and 5 percent would rather fall off a cliff.
- Nearly 20 percent of survey respondents would give up watching television if it meant keeping a full head of hair.
- Twenty-two percent of men said they'd trade in their vacation to keep their hair.
- Nearly 10 percent of American men said they'd give up sex to hang on to their hair.
