We need to learn to accept our hair as it is (Support & General Discussions) |
I am not saying give up, I am not saying do not have hope you can have something in the future to restore what we lost
there are treatments we all know about Prop, rogaine, niz cream, natural dht blockers etc , and of course transplants. But they are all limited in what they can accomplish and I do not think most guys are satisfied with the outcome they get, they always wish for more hair, and are hanging on edge for the next HM treatment to come along to give them a full head of hair.
Meanwhile we sit around, well some of us anyway, and cry about our situation, how we miss our old hair, gaze at high school pics and say, Man those were the days. If I only had my hair life would be so much better. Would it really? or is this just what we convince ourselves of.
As I said in the .....Its only hair. thread. you can find multitudes of bald billionaires happy as clams. or prisoners with healthy full heads of hair. So this fact in itself contradicts what we all try to convince ourselves of. That hair makes the man, that hair will buy us happiness. that it is the key to our smiling faces for the rest of our lives.
I am not in my early 20s like other board members. I have been thinning for over 20 years now so I know the pain of starting to thin at 21, same age as my Dad. Some board members may say, Hey Hangin if you are not worried about your hair why hang out on this board, you must be obsessed with it just like us. Well no, not realy. I have come to terms with my hairloss, and having experienced it for more than 20 years, the men in my age group are not so stigmatized by it, nor are the women so reluctant to accept guys with thinning hair lines. But it does not mean it doesnt bother me to some extent. It is just that as the years pass, the pain your hair loss causes you diminishes. Would I like mine all back? Sure of course. But that does not mean I am stressed out about it enough to get a tranplant, or try anything.
I have managed to stop my balding and maintain what I have for the last ten years and My hair looks way better now than it did in 1999 thats with no tranplant. Maybe that is why I am at peace with my situation,
However after reading the board for years and looking at my own sitation I have come to the conclusion there is more to life than hair, and I can tell you for sure that your friends and family do not care about your hair nearly as much as you think they do. Sure they might kid you about it, but they mean no harm, they view it as teasing. Now when the guys who do this start to lose their own hair years later, they sure wont think it is so funny.
As far as future treatments I do think that sometime in the next 25 years they will come up with something to regenerate a lot of hair. However the timing of this is so unpredictable, I think it truly is a waste of time for me to sit around waiting and hoping on the edge of my seat, thinking, damn, i hope this company ABC comes out with a treatment in 2 years , that will surely save me. Seems like a silly waste of time to plan my life around treatments that may never come to pass.
Now lets talk about our hair. What if you never get your hair back. What if your hair looks like it does now for the rest of your life . Can you accept this? If you cannot accept it, in your mind, and no new treatment comes along to save you , then what will you do?
I think many board members think this is off topic and belongs in another forum but, it is critically important for board members to go through this thought process at some time. What if you were burned in an accident, and absolutely refused to accept it, ........it would cripple your chances to go further and succeed in life and love and business.
We must be prepared to go through our lives and have crappy hair. Sure if a new treatment comes along we can use we will use it, but we cannot plan our lives around that possibility.

this post on accepting our hair, i feel is very needed, even though many will try to move it to another board , like the.........help board , or something that nobody reads
there is also a fine line between accepting what our hair looks like, and giving up, in other words if we accept our hair, then why try to use topicals DHT blockers etc, so I guess i really do not mean just give up and do not try anything, I certainly try anything that I think will work that is not overtly dangerous or expensive, and I try to stick with natural treatments
I do realize a lot of the guys on the HM board have not responded to conventional treatments though, and that is why they are hoping HM works, so to me that is not the same situation i am in , since I am a lucky responder to natural dht blockers
we are all here to learn, to find something to help our personal situations, I just happen to feel that HM is overhyped, and has a seriously bad history of producing absolutely nothing, after getting the board members so excited.
The question is, ..........is it a good thing or a bad thing to get excited about a treatment and get your hopes up and then it turns out to be a flop and produce nothing. Guys say, well at least we have hope?
true i hope i win the lottery tomorrow but I probably wont, and I dont think it helps my life to plan my future and hope something happens and then it does not happen
just my personal thought process
i do think that if HM comes to reality it will do that with or without the members of this board. Pessimistic board members to me provide a dose of reality. when the board is seeing the world through rose colored glasses
the board does seem to be very sensitive though, to guys who do not share their viewpoints
cursing seems to be a problem

much to your surprise, i would love for something to work. nothing would please me more
i just happen to not be the type of person who goes on hype, i like data to back things up
i have been raised in business to have a devils advocate attitude, this is not to destroy the possibility of things being good or bad, it is just if something passes the pessimist test, which if it is legitimate, it surely will.........then it is worth looking into
just because someone questions your plan, doesnt mean the plan is bad..........the answers to the questions though, determine whether the plan is logical or workable
when i guestion the fact that most of the currently discussed topics do not pass muster , there is no debate, this is a fact
if something was tested on humans and worked, why would anyone object to trying it? including me?
if you were trying to sell me on a business loan, and I was a banker, deciding whether to loan you money..........I would ask for data, I would ask for how many orders you have, I would ask for customer market research, has the product been safety tested etc etc etc.
If someone brought to me a business plan asking for money for Acell or Follica and I was a banker , I would ask, has this been tested on humans. It the answer was no , I would say, what is the history of products tested on animals, that worked, that later turned out to not work on humans. The list would be long. I would not grant the loan. That is just me. There are plenty of other sources of capital out there.
All I am saying is just on Paper, Follica and Acell do not pass muster as far as being proven to work.
Apparently this upsets many board members who interpret this as a personal attack

i mean, you post much bs and fight many fights with members of this forum. but this one was a great post. i think the same way.
why say so negative things about such a great post? and why take it as a personal attack? it just shows you re not ok with your hair-situation and cant handle it. it shows much about the guys who answered to this post. hanging wanted to help with this post...once in 1000 posts he did that. and you start personal attacks...just stupid. it only shows you re weak.
if you think this doesnt belong in the HM-section... there are so many people on the HM-section who think a wrong way. so try to learn from this post if you can.
if you were fine with your hair, you wouldnt post such bs to such a good post.
