http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/11/18/incredible-innovations-to-slow-down-aging.aspx >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mercola update: In his latest newsletter, Dr. Mercola conducted an interview with an aging researcher. In the article, Mercola wrote about his stem cell attempt to regrow hair. According to him, he is taking pictures every day, and in three months time (if the test works) he should have a full head of original hair.

I agree. I find it very interesting, I wonder what company it could be? Something going on behind our back that we dont know about? He must at least believe in it if he is going through with it after all this time. So let´s wait and see! (and perhaps found the comapany behind this..)

Well here is a HM websites top list from stem cell baldness cures site, there are 3 sites from this list that I didt include in my serious seeds threads, hope they ve something to offer those 3 I missed :

1. Aderans Research Institute: “dedicated to developing state-of-the-art cell engineering solutions for hair loss.”

2. Intercytex: It promotes “an autologous hair regeneration therapy, a suspension of human dermal papilla (DP) cells, for the treatment of male pattern baldness and female diffuse alopecia.”

3. Follica: “Developing novel therapies for conditions and disorders of the hair follicle, the epicenter for the development and replenishment of human hair and skin.”

4. Histogen: It is marketing “a proprietary liquid formula created by the culturing of newborn fibroblasts in an embryonic-like environment and then harvesting the naturally secreted growth factors, anitoxidants and other synergistic bioproducts that are produced” that, it claims, may have “significant applications” as “an injectable for hair growth.”

5. Luna Innovations: It is use “nanomedicine” to stimulate new hair growth.

6. Hair Science Institute: Dr. Coen Gho’s clinic that claims a superior method for individual follicle transplantation.

7. Phoenix Bio: A Japanese biotech company that “propagates hair papillar cells which are the key element in hair growth and develops therapies that enable the implantation of these cells on patients thus regenerating the ability of the patient’s scalp to produce hair naturally.”

8. Shisheido Research: Another Japanese company that is doing research into hair multiplication technologies.

9. Bernstein Medical Center for Hair Restoration: An advanced hair transplantation clinic, the Bernstein Center also follows closely developments in hair cloning technologies and is a good source for a
“hands on” reality check on what is realistic at the moment.

I guess if something is going on it must be in one of these labs/companies or from others in my serious seeds thread...

Only Follica is using a topical solution of these as far as I know ("testing some topical stem cell factors that promises to provide me with a full head of original hair in the next three months" ). But they are not using any stem cell factors as far as I know.
Oh well, nice to see some news, it has been a slow period for a while.

Okey people. I just had a chat with one of Mercola's staff members at their site, and she confirmed to me that Mercola is indeed undergoing a stem cell treatment and that he will announce future results in his newsletters.
Now we just have to hope the results will be good!

Thank you Striver for ask to Dr. Mercola staff and confirm his treatment. I don't know if this can be a scam or not, we will see it in three months, but we can ask them for the details of his treament to know if this can work and/or if it's based on other works that we can try and add to the treatments that the people are trying in this forum.

I don't think his staff will give you the details of the treatment, they say he will write about this again in future newsletters, and that's the only thing they know about. So we can probably expect some update in the newsletters after 3 months. However, one of the staff members said she will send Dr. Mercola an e-mail about this (since he is out of country right now) and forward his answer to me.

just another proof its a viral marketing, yeah he is undergoing treatment but you can get more news only if you register to his email spams!!

I mean ppl, don't be naive. There are only so few companies who are doing research in this. Its either aderans or the guy is just a liar.

I think the best scenario would be its aderans, but the guy is overly optimistic and exagerrating. He wont have full head of hair.

On the other hand, if its aderans, and they picked him to participate in the trial, then either they are incredibly stupid, or very sure that it will pan out.

AFAIK, aderans was accepting nw IV - VI, the guy is clear norwood 7

EDIT: this is not valid anymore, see my post below, the guy is not in aderans trials.

EDIT2: looking at the vides, he's not nw7, but nw5 probably.

By going through this last paragrapgh I find it more likely that he is in, lets say, the Regenica trial, or some kind of Acell trials or that laminin511 ingredient, Dr greco (PRP)..Who knows the research in this field is booming right now..for the best interest of baldies worldwide. However, the REGENICA company announced that it intended to release the data around the 1st half of 2009. May be he is with some uknown trials or just joined a bunch of looking-for money and glory doctors. After all, the theoretical basis of the Cure is here finally (Thank's God). Now we only need some doctors with some fair equipments and brains to make it real.

Or may be that Copper peptides thing (with Neosh or Neosil I forgot how do u call it). This last Scenario is the closest that I can find to the Scam hypothesis of Debris.

One more thing, this guy is putting his whole credibility at stake here, there is a moment of truth for him now in just 3 months. I dont think
that he did that with the Scam attitude going through his mind. It'd be pure
suicide for him, can you imagine how'll he percieved by mpb communities in the web if everything turned to be a scam, seriously I dont know the guy but
I dont think he is that fool or suicidal, after all, he was smart enough to get his doctor's diplomas !

Have you even met and spoken to the man. Maybe he has not helped as many people as you, or written as many books as you. And maybe he hasn't given as many lectures as you, but having met him myself and personally knowing several people he has helped as patients regain there health, I can honestly say he is a person who cares, but he is only one man trying to change the system.

He certainly is not going to jeopardize his integrity on making a quick buck. It's just not what he is about.

He is against everything that current science believes in. Whatever a regular doctor will tell you is according to Mercola basicaly wrong.

You have a right to eat that, and I have a right to think he's just going to fail with his hair growth test, because he is imho naive and often very wrong.

I'm not saying that current western medicine is perfect, its flawed and far from perfect, but being a naive believer in any snake oil is not helpful as well, and thats what Mercola imho is.

He's very naive and often naively wrong, and these full head of hair claims will prove it soon.

ok Mercola claims:

soy is wrong, using sunscreens is wrong, if you got weight problems, you need hypnosis. High cholesterol is benefitial, TANING BEDS ARE HEALTHY according to him (if only they were not involving electromagnetic fields). It rarely gets more absurd than that so I hope these examples do satisfy you. You can watch the rest on youtube yourself.

the guy is clearly delusional.

» » >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mercola update: In his latest

» In
» » the article, Mercola wrote about his stem cell attempt to regrow hair.
» » According to him, he is taking pictures every day, and in three months

» » (if the test works) he should have a full head of original hair.
»
» Okey people. I just had a chat with one of Mercola's staff members at
» their site, and she confirmed to me that Mercola is indeed undergoing a
» stem cell treatment and that he will announce future results in his
» newsletters.
» Now we just have to hope the results will be good!
I had an additional chat with Mercola's staff to find out whether he is in a trial of a company or not. They said that he is not part of any company trials, he is testing this on his own.
However, the staff member I chatted with gave me link to some other article that Mercola wrote about, and that was about Follica's success. She said that article might be useful to see what Mercola is doing. So either he is trying out some scam product or he got some "starting kit" from Follica, without officially being part of their trials. I believe the latter is very unlikely though :(

Yeah maybe. I would really like to get an answer from the guy himself, but I guess they won't reveal anything until he writes about it again.

Mercola update:

We need a law:

Every small-time operation that introduces a hair regrowth product must first deposit about $500,000 into a third-party holding account. Then, after a year on the market, the MPB community gets to vote on whether they should have their money confiscated for scamming us or not.

The confiscated funds can go to real legitimate MPB research.

He is Far from delusional, some of the stuff he says is backed up by the latest studies. Take sunscreens for example, recent studies have shown that infact people who use sunscreens have higher incidences of skin cancer compared to people who didn't but were exposed to sunlight - only people who avoided sun exposure had the least incidences of skin cancer.

Same case about soy, media lately has been evangelizing soy (including soy milk) as more healthy compared to regular milk etc. However, studies do show that it increases estrogen levels in men and guys who probably drink 2-3 glasses of this everyday would definitely have a higher risk of gyno. I also remember some study about possible relation of estrogen & some form of cancer - don't recall the exact study though.

I really don't know about his reasoning for supporting taning beds and high-cholestrol so I'm really not gonna argue about that.

"The only evidence suggesting a relationship between sunscreen and melanoma is correlational, and thus cannot be used to establish a causal relationship."

In lazy mans words: Most of the guys who sunbath all day long, do use sunscreens, so when compared to the guys who do not sunbath at all and thus dont use sunscreens) they have increased risks of cancer. Does this mean that sunscreens cause cancer? No, it just means, that guys who never use sunscreens rarely sunbath.

Mercola update:

Okay Dr. Mercola... YOUR TIME IS UP.
It's now been almost 4 months since your EXTRAORDINARY claim of regrowing a full head of hair.
Time to show us some photos.
As Dr. Carl Sagan once said: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."
Words to live by.
;-)

Is there an email address we can all send an email to? If enough of us send the same message he may well respond?

You just have to wait for his next video to judge by yourself. Till then, you'll have this type of answer :

"Thank you for writing to Mercola.com.

3/9/2009 3:59:47 PM:

We appreciate your inquiry on this. Unfortunately, we do not have any updated information on Dr. Mercola's experiment with hair regrowth at this time. We hope to have some updated information in the future. We apologize we could not be of further assistance. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know!"
