If Michael Jackson had seen Dr. Rassman... (Celebrity Hair Loss) |
I think there is a good chance he would still be alive today. I knew Michael Jackson (I was not a close friend, just an occasional acquaintance but we got along well)... I think that Dr. Rassman or some other HT doctor who performs surgery very similar to Dr. Rassman could have saved Michael's scalp. I think Michael's baldness was partially responsible for his depression and that kicked everything over into drug dependency and his career decline.

If you knew the man, then you obviously know more about him than I do. That said, I don't think he had MPB. His brothers all seem to have hair.
Again, I dont know him, but my guess is child stardom and an abusive father were the root of his problems.

I worked for a publisher and event planner who did a lot of work for Joe Jackson. I think we started seeing Michael retreat a bit from public life and start becoming more eccentric after the Pepsi incident, where obviously he lost a good part of his hair. I'm not saying the hairloss was 100% responsible -- I think it was other things too, like the vitiligo (his skin condition) which forced him to choose between getting the white parts dyed black, or getting the black parts bleached white... obviously he went with the latter. But I do think the hairloss was the tipping point.

OK, I'm sorry for going overboard... A friend of mine had a HT done by Dr. Rassman and it is amazing. He really looked almost bald (maybe a Norwood 5) before, and after about a year of transplants, now you really can't tell he was ever balding.
But from what I've seen of Dr. Armani's before and after pictures, they are amazing, too.

This thread does come pretty close to advertising. If "Rassman" had been "good doctor", it would be one thing, but naming a specific doctor certainly seems like advertising.

According to Michael Jackson, he had surgery on his nose because of a "breathing problem." I don't buy that anymore than I believe he had vitiligo. It wasn't just one thing with him, it was everything. He needed psychiatrist.

Don't think so.
Did you know he was completely bald except for "peach fuzz" on his scalp, and the hair we saw him with was a collection of wigs? This is per CNN.
Don't know how long people here have been following his career, but I believe he actually lost a lot of the hair on his crown in the 1984 Pepsi accident...
Look at what Michael's friend, David Gest, says:
http://news.sawf.org/Gossip/36070.aspx
His personality permanently changed after the Pepsi accident.

His personality changed and he became weirder as he got into the late 80s and kept getting more plastic surgery and people started to view him as freaky
he kept trying to repeat the success of thriller album which is impossible to live up to
after his molestation trial in 93 is when he basically went into a shell
and never returned to his old confidence
his spending in my opinion was so crazy that this brought him to the brink of financial collapse, which will stress anyone out
\i really dont believe he was a child molestor, if he was, where are the child porn tapes?: they found nothing in the raid, or on any computer
he was very talented and very strange but i dont believe hair loss was on his radar, other than wearing wigs, which he could easily do

Hangin, I'm just sayin that it really looks like the Pepsi accident was the main catalyst that led to everything else.
Obviously the guy was damaged from a very young age with his father's abuse.
But remember most of the plastic surgery and all that started AFTER the Pepsi incident.
The media never covered any trauma he may have had because of his hair loss, because I think that was suppressed by MJ. It wasn't exactly something he wanted to talk about. But I think it did have a big effect.
Especially as we know he was someone so obsessed and perfectionistic about his appearance and public image.

he was getting surgery way before the pepsi commercial
by the time thriller had been released he had already had a few nose jobs, and was beginning to bleach his skin. The pepsi commercial was in 1984, Thriller came out , the video i believe in 1982 or 3, look at his face and compare it to 1979 when his first album came out, and also compare the skin color, he was way more black on his first album but even in 1979 he had already had a nose job, unless i am mistaken

Maybe you're right about the timeline, Hangin.
I just think the Jackson family and his PR people weren't honest with the public about the extent of his injury from the fire incident. And even though you're right, he probably started the plastic surgery before, I think he got way more reclusive after the accident.
