Very poor results and no growth at all? :S To me seems like you have even lost more hair at the top of your head How can be this possible to get so bad results from "so good (pushed up) clinic"? With 3100 grafts you should have zones 1, 2 completely filled i think! :S Wasted grafts and wasted lot of money. I'm really sorry to see your bad results.

Can you please contact eric@alviarmani.com so that Armani's staff can assist you further. I don't think they can locate your file and details of your procedure just by looking at your pictures. Once they have verified your patient records and identity, I am sure they can help you.

Yeah, but 3000 grafts should still look like more than that by 8 months. Even if it was 3000 grafts done onto slick-bald skin.

You're a riot. I understand Armani is an east target, but c'mon. The guy came in here to get information/opinions from us, not Eric or Armani, even though he was forwarded/recommended to talk to Aramani. If he wanted information from Armani, he would have contacted them directly, or he would have complained about their lack of service, which he hasn't.
While I may not agree with Armani's use of hair, I do think they have a top-notch customer care service, as it's quite evident with Eric trying to answer questions.. although sometimes vaguely.

chanyouzhe, thanks for coming forward with your experience. my heart really goes out to you. i'm glad u have done it as professional as you can without throwing accusations or showing any temperment, because that would have just gave the mod an excuse to delete your post.
keep your kool and wait for answers from the clinic as well as opinions from us on the forums. we're not dumb and can read inbetween the lines. i am SO interested in what the reason for this growth is. I further hope that an outside professional such as Dr. Woods can comment on this.
I just have 2 questions.
1) are you taking any hair loss medications?
2) do u suffer from any illness/disease?
If none of the above apply, i can only "guess" that this MAY be a case of shockloss. not sure if the other members here would agree with me though. shockloss is very debatable. some surgeons say it can be permanent and some say it's not permanent. again, the opinion of an outside professional who has no interest in you would be very helpful and very much appreciated by not only you but us as well. we all hope things turn out well for u.

Chanyouzhe, It is important to remember that at 8 months you are right in the middle of the growth period and still have many more months of new growth and thickening to come.
Typically the final result is seen 18 months out from a procedure. Everyone will grow at different rates so please do not get discouraged. You still have plenty of time.

Pats205 - have you really seen someone who was in similar situation with this guy? And how it turned out finally? All what i have seen and read is that hair should start to sprout out from skin about 3 months after HT. Now is passed almost 2x more time and no growth at all! To me seems he even have lost more hair after HT. Really hard to believe in this case that he is going to have full head of hair. He's hairline (zones 1,2) should be completely filled using 3117 grafts which is about 5000-6000 new hair. I really wanna hope his results turn out well finally but at the same time it's hard to believe that something goes better there.

It does appear the patient has lost more hair behind the transplanted area. We only transplanted into zones 1 and 2, but it appears the patient is loosing hair in zones 3 and 4 where we did not implant as well.
Yes Krapok, I have seen where individuals have had late growth that did not really kick in until the 7-9 month period. Some are late bloomers but their results turned out just fine.

I think the thing that is being overlooked here is the fact that the full result of a procedure should not be judged until 18 months after the date of the transplant purely because everyone is different when it comes to growth.
I have also seen patients who have not responded very well until the late stages of growth - 12 months onwards.

If you wanna get to the limit then we could say we shouldn't judge a HT for full thickness for 24 months.
But 12 months is enough to judge graft survival IMO.
If a graft hasn't produced a hair shaft at 12 months, not even a thin little shaft that has shed once again already . . . then I wouldn't bet on it ever producing hair in the future.

Show the forum examples of patients who at 6-8 months had little or no growth and then in the months following "bloomed" out noticably more than they were at the 6-8 month mark.

If that's the reality then you will have no problem whatsoever showing the forum numerous photo examples of dramatic differences in growth and coverage at the 8-12 month or more point versus the 6th month point.
Surely, since this is the norm, you have plenty of examples stored in your shill folder.

I dont get it,you say that he lost his hair in areas that were not transplanted? What do you imply that coincidentally after the procedure his mpb got so agressive that he lost all his hair in months???
Seems like a big coincidence to me that someone got a procedure and in 8 months he lost all his native hair, also i ve never seen anyone with normal MPB loosing everything in months. What if Woods is right when he mentioned scalp shock and permanent destruction on another thread, can this be because too many grafts were transplanted on a guy with so many native hair? Can it be this scalp shock? Will the hair come back or this is permanent?
What is going on here?

» Dr.Armani 3117 grafts 8 months
» is this situation normal??i am afraid~~
This looks like it could be the result of dense packing, which is IMO a very questionable practice. However, at 8 months out, there is still a chance the hair will grow back.
BTW, shockloss can be permanent, but it is not always the case. I know of a very well-known HT surgeon who gave up dense packing and went to a conservative approach, because of the shockloss being experience by a minority of his patients. There's less profit in it, but it's easier for him to sleep at night.

But please keep up your spirits. Sometimes the hair takes longer than average to recover from trauma, and you end up getting it all back.

»

» If that's the reality then you will have no problem whatsoever showing the

» coverage at the 8-12 month or more point versus the 6th month point.
»
» Surely, since this is the norm, you have plenty of examples stored in your
» shill folder.
I would love to see these photos, too!!!
In all honesty this looks like permanent shockloss and I havent seen one single case that had that little growth at 8 months and a full head of hair at 12 or 15 months.
All the talk "wait till 18 months or even longer" is a joke if you ask me!!

Hi Chan,
How's it going? I find it very surprising and hard to believe that the doctor didn't explain that to you. I had a procedure with Dr. Armani in May of 2008 and they made sure they went over every little detail of the entire procedure and aftermath. Not only did they verbally explain that my existing hair may fall out due to shock and that it would take several months to see results, they had it all in writing and I had to sign to verify that I understood this.
No offense, but did you listen to what they told you and did you read the literature they handed out? I was not surprised when my existing hair fell out and I did not have unrealistic expectations thanks to the Dr. and the reps. I'm a little confused by your post as you seem completely surprised by this.

Keepitshorter,
I think you have to remember that hair takes time to grow. Just like with babies, sometimes baby's don't grow hair until after 1 year of age (my daughter). It doesn't mean she won't, just that her hair has taken longer to grow out. I think the same is true for transplanted hair since it is treated like newly grown hair.

Gabriel - wouldn't you be mad several months after HT where you wasted thousands of dollars + invaluable donor hair (3117 grafts is huge amount of donor hair) and your results after 8 months looks even worse? I don't know exactly what this guy feels at the moment but i believe this situation is really really really hard for him. Would be great if docs care more about people feelings not only about the big $$$ what patients can bring them.
btw. chanyouzhe how are you? any news?

Ok, after reading all your posts, I completely understand what you're going through. It seems that you got a very similar procedure to what I had and at 8 months the hair is definitely still growing. I had my procedure with Armani, and I was worried/anxious at first but the density increased and looked a lot better. You have a long ways to go, and the result is going to be much better. Keep in mind they went from 0 hair in zone 1 to a brand new hairline. I think you're making some good progress. You might be going through some shockloss, but I think it will come back for you. Wish you the best, you're in good hands, I wouldn't worry...

Chanyouzhe,
I am sorry you feel the result is not to your expectation and it will be our role to ensure you reach a level inline with this expectation. It does occur on a very rare occasion that a result is not 100% perfect and in these instances we work with the patient to find a positive solution.
Since voicing your disatisfaction we have emailed you many times to start to resolve the situation, we have also asked that you remain patient for a little longer so we can assess the 12 month result and then provide you with a solution. We always stand by out patients .
Please work with me to resolve this and allow us the opportunity to offer you the result which you should expect from our work. I am doing my very best and everything in my power to provide you with a level of service that you should expect

Saying this result is not 100% perfect is kind of euphemistic don't you think? His result isn't even 0%, it's actually worse than if he never got a HT at all. I know you're just towing the company line, but sorry there's no way to sugarcoat this one.
On a previous reply you wrote that it appeared that he did lose more hair behind the transplanted areas. You totally disregard the fact that even the transplanted areas are completely disappointing. I'd have a lot more respect for your company if you just owned up to the fact that this result is horrible.

I feel so sorry for you and I cant even imagine how sad you must be. Your pre-operation pics werent that bad. U had still a lot of hair left which makes things even worse.
I just hope that Armani feels the same way and refunds you the huge amount you have paid for this mess.
I am not sure how much donor you have left, but you should start thinking about a repair. I know its hard to go through all this procedure once again, but in all honesty I dont think your hair will change that much anymore. Something went really wrong with your transplant......

I think this result calls for a full cash refund. It does not look like a HT with a sub-par yield, it looks like a HT with very little yield at all.
It is understandable for the clinic to want to wait until 12 months have passed for any "final" judgment. But I do not think it will be very significantly improved at 12 months from what we see right now at 9 months.
If this kind of result is "very rare" then I don't see any reason not to pay all the money back to the dissatisfied patient. The cost of one HT is a small price to pay to protect the clinic's reputation. And the patient has paid a price in donor hair that cannot be recovered no matter how much money he gets refunded now.

I didn't say it was the patient's fault at all. I'm simply stating that I'm surprised that he is surprised. If you know what to expect and you do your research and you have a good doctor that explains things to you, than you shouldn't be so shocked. IMO.
