trivia (Hair Transplant)

OK folks... let's answer these questions... This is "hair trivia"... Answer and you will get points...

A patient has had significant hairloss. He is 34 years old and a norwood 4. This particular patient chose to have a hair system for a few years. It looked good but it was time for him to try a hair restoration. He was tired of the maintenance of this system and the continued cost of up keep.

Finally he went under the knife from a prominent clinic after his extensive research. After his transplant he was told during his post operative notes (what you need to do after a transplant in terms of creating the best conditions for the best yield) that he may need to do what with his hair system?

A. Do not wear the hair system. It will certainly lower yield.

B. Since the punch that was used was larger than 1.0mm then the hair system will compliment the ravashed donor area.

C. The hair system will not be a problem. Wear it until the grafts grow in. Then no one will notice the transition.

D. Limit the hair system use at all possible. The hair system does cause stress to the newly transplanted grafts.

E. Look for a clinic that has a history of large staff turn over, an unorganized administrative staff, a dollar per graft that is increased once you sit in the chair, and several law suites from disgruntled patients.

F. A and D.

The sad reality is that many doctors will tell their patients answer C:

"C. The hair system will not be a problem. Wear it until the grafts grow in. Then no one will notice the transition."

I would not recommend wearing a hair piece after a procedure at all. This is actually a very common question.

Great answers! Yes these are common questions and answers for new readers. Sorry I have not posted in a while. We have a clinic from Korea watching both of our strip and FUE procedures this week.
