Treating hair loss with inhibitors of cholesterol synthesis (Propecia, Avodart, Spiro, DHT & hormones ...)
» The study might have shown that it is not effective. But what is the
» reason??
»
» Intake of Statins ---------------------> Low cholesterol
» Low cholesterol --------------> Low androgens
» Low androgens --------------------> Decreased hair loss
»
» So intake of statins-------------------> no hair loss...
»
» Is it not an attractive theory?
I think the reason why it doesn't work is fairly obvious: there are so many feedback loops in the body, especially when it comes to the production and regulation of androgens, you can't just simply partially interefere with a far "upstream" factor like cholesterol synthesis and expect the effect to "trickle-down" into lower levels of androgens. Ahhhh, if only it were so simple!
