the patent is for a topical product, but now that youve mentioned it----I dont know of any test to see how much soy consumption internally has decreased sebum in a person or whatnot. If it absorbs through the skin, I suppose the effect would be no more than if one drank some soy milk (contains isoflavones) or something, etc.
