Hair pieces - the basics please... (Hair Replacement Systems)

posted by piperz, 06.07.2008, 19:37

The first thing you should be aware of is the so called 'fringing' phenomenon.

This basically means that the front of your hair system will deteriorate and consume itself in a matter of weeks and it would end up looking completely different and weird.

The second thing you should be aware of is that very few people can match you real hair color. hair systems color tend to fade and certain salons (even the one that is considered the best in the world) cannot prevent or avoid your system looking orange when exposed to real sunlight.

The third thing is DO NOT TRUST PICTURES OR VIDEOS it doesn't matter how good they look. It is a smoke and mirror type of business so don't delude yourself that you will have an undetactable piece. Wigs are all detectable to the naked eye. Some are less detectable than others provided that you spent enourmous amount of money on them and you have a whole set of hair pieces.

Styling is of paramount importance. Most salons have stylist that haven't got a clue! just a bunch of them are actually able to style the system in such a way as to render it credible. However it won't last long. Three days down the line are you are back to square one.

Hair thickness. This is crucial. When I went to my consultation I was assured that the hair on the system would have matched my hair caracteristics. What a lie! 9 times out of ten the hair on the pieces are way too thick, therefore they produce a visible contrast with your existing hair.

You don't see this from pictures and video.

Another thing if you really want to buy a piece make sure that the density is low and the scalp is showing.

One final thought... don't do it mate! It took me more than a year to realize that most people would realize that I was wearing a wig but were too polite too mention it.

Maintanance is a nightmare, servicing frustating and inconsistent.

Keep in mind that I went to what is considered to be tha best hair replacement company in the world! (what a load of crap)

Don't do it man, you are going to regret for the rest of your life.
