Dr. Wong/5005 Grafts/One Session/Strip (Hair Transplant)

posted by jotronic Homepage, Vancouver, BC Canada, 06.11.2008, 21:46

Sometimes when the hair has started to grow in the hair can be a bit off in regards to both color and texture but I feel it is rare that it is a difference noticeable to others. In fact I can only think of one case where this was obvious from a short distance. It was immature hair though and it all "settled" by the time a year or shortly past a year came and went. I do not know of a single case where this was permanent. Some patients will notice a slight difference in texture when the hair is first growing in. It has been said that the new hair can act as if they have a mind of their own for a few months until they mature. This is the case regardless of the clinic because new hair is new hair and it has to mature once it starts to grow in. All clinics have cases of this as well as cases of the hair coming in with no discernible differences from the remaining hair in the donor area.

Those permanent cases that are out there however are usually from a number of factors that contribute to the issue. One factor can be the "stuffing" of grafts into recipient sites that are not large enough to hold the graft properly. This was more common back in the old days but can still be seen today with the wrong clinic. This was the case with my old grafting of mini-grafts by Dr. Norris before I came to see Dr. Wong. The hairs that made up my then hairline were always a bit kinky compared to the rest of my hair and they appeared to be slightly darker. This effect never went away. My HT hair since Dr. Wong had a crack at me is just like my donor hair. Same color, same texture etc. so it is evidence to argue for proper technique having influence on how the hair grows out.
