FUE
- FUE
stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. Invented by Dr. Ray Woods
and Dr. Angela Woods-Campbell, FUE is presently the least invasive
hair transplant technique in the world.
Pros: Minimally invasive, no stitches, no visible scarring,
no linear scar, and no scalpels required.
Cons: Expensive, labor intensive, and high transection rates
if done incorrectly.
BHT
- BHT
stands for Body-Hair-To-Scalp Transplant, a spin off from the FUE
technique. Invented by Dr. Ray Woods and Dr. Angela Woods-Campbell,
BHT is a truly revolutionary technique. It allows the doctor to use
body hair such as chest hair or leg hair as donor. Patients with
insufficient scalp donor density or badly scarred hair transplant
patients can now tap into a totally new donor hair supply that was
never thought possible a few years ago.
Pros: New source of donor hair supply for badly scarred hair
transplant patients or those with insufficient scalp donor hair.
Minimally invasive. No linear strip scar. No visible scarring.
Cons: Expensive, labor intensive, and high transection rates
if done incorrectly. Unpredictable yield. Grafts may take longer to
grow than head donor.
Tri-Closure -
Trigrowthic
or Tricophytic technique. This is a new donor closure technique for
strip transplant procedures. This technique allows strip transplant
patients an affordable way to have a pristine donor site with no
visible scar.
Pros: Affordable. No visible donor scar. Fast results. Cost
efficient.
Cons: Strip procedure, more traumatic and invasive than FUE
or BHT technique.
STRIP -
Traditional
strip hair transplant, sometimes referred to as FUHT or Follicular
Unit Hair Transplant. This technique is presently practiced by the
vast majority of the doctors worldwide. The donor is obtained by
removing a strip from the back of your head.
FUT
- FUT
stands for Follicular Unit Transplant. It is actually the same as
STRIP procedures. Some doctors or clinic prefer to call the
technique FUT. Please do NOT confuse FUT with FUE. The two
techniques are vastly different. |
