Before we proceed, it is very important that you understand what FUE is.  FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. NO KNIFE, NO SCALPEL, NO STITCHES, NO VISIBLE SCARRING. Only a few doctors are truly qualified to perform this type of procedure right now.

Traditional Strip Excision The donor area is closed using stitches or staples which cause further trauma to the donor site. Return visits are required for suture removal. Patients will be left with a linear scar after healing.

With FUE, you can even use your body hair as donor and transplant that to the thinning areas on your scalp. This technique is now commonly referred to as the Body Hair Transplant or BHT. It has been proven to be a viable option and the body hair can actually mimic the characteristics of your scalp hair once transplanted to your scalp.

If you are considering your first hair transplant procedure, the one thing that you must do is to check out the hair transplant reviews section in our site, this is by far the most important first step you can take when researching a quality hair transplant doctor or clinic.

Do not base your decision on price and convenience alone. If you feel that you would only proceed with a hair transplant procedure with a doctor in your city, then please do not do anything at all. You will be better off. Hair transplantation is irreversible. So it pays to do your homework and research properly before making a decision.  It's totally worthwhile to fly to another city to see a reputable surgeon. You only have ONE chance to make this right. 

Unfortunately, nowadays there are literally just a handful of doctors who are truly experienced in FUE or BHT procedures. 99% of the hair transplant doctors in the world still do the old technique called STRIP. The old technique is a very traumatic and involved procedure for the patient. Also, it leaves a permanent linear strip scar across the back of the patient's head. The old STRIP technique is associated with higher risk of donor complications, and the scar has a tendency to widen over time.

When you are doing your research, please remember to ask the doctor: "Will I have a linear scar across the back of my head after the procedure?".  If the answer to this questions is YES, then DO NOT DO IT. It is the old strip technique.
