In addition to the article mentionned above check out the following: www.healthcentral.com/news/newsfulltext.cfm?id=39894&StoryType=ReutersNews (maybe one should better look for the whole article in August 18th issue of Cell journal), some interesting links there too,
and: www.sigmaxi.org/amsci/issues/sciobs95/sciobs95-01.html#Hair. (Gone today, Hair tomorrow). Lavker and other researchers in France and Japan are mentionned here already in 1995. So you can again tell that there is research allover the world going on. Our problem seems to be that the PRACTICAL application of the results of this research (as with Dr. Gho's method) is not really followed hardly enough. (As a matter of fact Gho seems to have found/searched a practical protocol for research already found out years before by Jahoda.) In my opinion researchers quite often are not even interested in practical application of their results. It's not that that they do not care, they do care, but consider it somebody else's work. They mainly care about finding out scientific facts that the world hasn't known before. Anyway, in this article there are interesting theories about baldness not resulting out of a LACK of cells (as the same stem cells can still produce epidermis and heal wounds on a bald head but maybe a) migration problems or b) improper or missing chemical signals (possibly because of "wrong" interaction of DHT with DNA?). You may also go to the "issues" page, browse past issues by subject, e.g. pick "medical sciences" and read the article about "Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research" by Shirley Wright. I got to this page via a link from Will Brink's homepage, www.brinkzone.com. Check this one out too if you like.
Cheers
