It's finally here - A massive non-profit campaign for a baldness cure. The non-profit
website was a spinoff of HairSite's Hair Multiplication Forum (we
have 8 of them now) and was debut August 1, 2000. This is a joint effort between HairSite,
YOU and the rest of the world. In this non-profit website, you will see nothing but the
hard work of a group of dedicated individuals (men and women) who share a common
goal - Cure for Baldness. Nobody will try to sell you anything in this non-profit website
nor will you see any advertising or banners flashing in your face. Our
motive is best summarized by a post submitted by Hair Loss Kid in the Hair Multiplication
Forum:
QUOTE
"U.S. hair transplant doctors are living far too comfortably to really care about
hair multiplication until it becomes an IMMEDIATE THREAT. Right now, they just don't care,
and for the vast majority of them, there is no incentive to research it or attempt to
offer it to their patients. The vast majority of them live so comfortably from doing
transplants, that talk of Hair Multiplication HM is just a laughable annoyance -- not even
that. The hair transplant industry in this country is far too big, too successful, and too
lucrative to be anything but complacent (or even overtly obstructive) in the face of
radical new developments that would upset their cash flow. There is no incentive for the
pharmaceutical companies to push it or research it, since they could never control it --
it's not a pharmaceutical product. Therefore it has fallen to one physician in the
Netherlands -- a man with foresight and a lot of determination -- to actually DO it.
What if everything happened under a much more decentralized scenario? What if hundreds or
thousands of American doctors were unafraid to begin a rapid push for research and FDA
approval of the procedure -- with noone taking full credit, and noone able to enforce a
patent, get "their" procedure certified as the only procedure, etc.? What if
hundreds or thousands of US doctors pooled their efforts, worked in a decentralized,
cooperative, and determined way, to create a DEMOCRATIC standard and protocol for HM that
would not allow anyone to enforce proprietary rights?
I know what would happen. The pace would pick up dramatically and HM would be available to
the public in a year.
But, that hasn't been the way it's played out. The doctors here turned out to be too
greedy and complacent. The pharmaceutical companies aren't interested -- in fact, they
have a clear interest in BLOCKING hair multiplication -- all the investment in Rogaine,
Propecia, and other drugs would be for naught -- lost investment. And nothing they could
profit from. Even companies like Hair Club for Men have an interest in blocking HM.
Do you know that big pharmaceutical companies habitually pay MILLIONS of dollars to
smaller companies to stop them from releasing competing drugs? This happens all the time,
and is perfectly LEGAL. Any company could pay any dermatologist or group of dermatologists
NOT to research or provide HM, and it would be totally legal. ANY company with the money
could do that."

In Summary
The medical and pharmaceutical industry are holding back on
research for hair loss. That has to change.
In the absence of an effective treatment, hair loss sufferers
are virtually victims of snake oils and hair transplant doctors. That has to change.
Hair transplants doctors are getting complacent with their
lucrative business. We, as consumers, should consider the possiblity of putting pressure
on hair transplants doctors to develop new treatments for hair loss, eg: Dr. Gho's Hair
Multiplication Procedure. One way is to "shut down" the hair transplant clinics
by educating consumers that a "cure" is on the horizon if we work together.
Competition, competition, competition. If we can stir up and
intensify competition among doctors and pharmaceutical companies, that will enhance the
possibility of a cure in the near future.
