[disc/disc-top-banner.htm]Hair Farming (or Foli-Kleen 2000) is a complete line of topical lotions and shampoo promoted by Jacqueline Sabal who claimed that her treatment could "finally end baldness in the human race". According to Hair Farming's promotional materials, the baldness program:
- is formulated with a secret trade secret that cannot be duplicated
- has obtained U.S patent
- has been subject to 2 double blind studies and 3 efficacy tests
- has obtained national and international trademark
- is represented in 10 countries
- is published in literature registered iwth the Library of Congress in the United States
- has been featured in numerous radio stations, magazines, newspapers and on television in programs such as The Nightly Business Report, ABC News, NBC News, and many more...
On November 12, 1998, the United States Federal Trade Commission announced that Sabal has agreed to the judgement that her claims were false, unsubstantiated and violated the FTC Act. As a result of the settlement, Sabal would be forever barred from selling or assisting in the sale of any product or business that treat or prevent baldness.
The above settlement is the result of the September 1998 preliminary injunction and asset freeze issued against Sabal by the US District Court Judge. Sabal was one of eight infomercials marketers the FTC charged in Januray 1998 with making false or unsubstantiated claims. The order including the asset freeze applied to Jacqueline Sabal as well as her companies - Sable Laboratories, Inc., Contessa Cosmetics, Inc., Contessa Basile, Inc., and Perfect People Magazine, Inc.
The above was handled by the FTC's Chicago Regional Office.
Please note that the above settlement does not constitute an admission of law violation by Jacqueline Sabal.
