Accutane kills acne and your hair - this seems to be the consensus
in our discussion group. Accutane is one of the most popular acne treatment. This is
commonly prescribed to younger people by doctors. It appears that people continue to lose
their hair even after the treatment has been discontinued. The following is
"must-read" for anyone who considers using Accutane for acne.

Hello:
My name is Kris and I have recently logged onto your website which was recommened by a
friend. I am most interested in exposing the devastating side effects of Accutane. I have
responded in the accutane forum, but it does not do justice to what seems as 1000's of
people suffering from hair loss due to taking this medication. I took accutane 10 years
ago, 2 courses about a year apart and then started a third course a couple of years later.
On the third course I was taking Lo-Overal birth control pills with the acctuane and
experienced shedding that was unbelievable. I was literally loosing upwards of 300 hairs a
day. Since then I have been to 9 doctors and have spent over $10,000 in medical bills and
tests to figure out what is wrong. The shedding has continued to go in intermitent cycles
over the last 7 years which in my opionion has caused permanent telogen effluvium. I have
spoken with the ROCHE company many times and have spoken to 2 top nurses there about 7
years ago and both stated the effects were temporary. This is such an outright lie. That
is not necessarily true for all who take accutane and have this side effect, but 7 years
ago they may have thought it was temporary for everyone. I have called recently and spoken
to a representative at ROCHE in which she informed me that the information pamphlet has
been updated to state that Accutane causes Alopecia in some patients and can persist in
some rare cases. In addition, that accutane may cause hair abnormalities. It does not
state what the abnormalities consist of. However, what I could still not believe was that
it is not listed as a common effect, but still as a rare effect. It is not rare, and I
recommended that this person suggest that someone from the ROCHE company log onto to your
website and get informed about exactly how many people are suffering from this. Her reply
was. "I'm sorry that this has happened." The same exact reply I got from the
nurses 7 years ago. They are probably trained to say that. How about not being sorry and
inform people honestly. This is a serious and dangerous drug that will make one sit and
think before taking it not only for causing hair loss, but other effects such as serious
birth defects ( taken while pregnant). I wish I had. I wanted to share this with the site
and hopefully it can reach others. When enough people make light of this problem maybe
just maybe they will do something about it.
Thank You For Listening
