HAIRSITE'S REVIEW	Retin-A ® is the brand name or trade name for Tretinoin. Tretinoin (or Retinoids) are vitamin A acids. Clinical studies have shown that Retinoids or Tretinoin (topical application) can prevent skin disorders such as severe acne or psoriasis. Incidently, it is also discovered that Retinoids/Tretinoin may help in promoting hair growth, especially when used in conjunction with minoxidil. It is speculated that retinoids enhances penetration and absorption of minoxidil into hair follicles. You need a doctor's prescription to obtain Retinoids or Tretinoin medication. Nowadays, many facial moisturizers include the agent alpha hydroxy (AHA). AHA is also a kind of vitamin acids. When applied topically to the skin, AHA can exfoliate dead skin and rejuvenate skin cells, making skin soft and supple. Since topical minoxidil is an alcohol based solutions, long term use can harden the scalp, increase flakiness and make it more difficult for minoxidil to reach the hair follicle. Treatment: Minoxidil and retin-A topical solution
Commenced: March 1997
Age: 23
Duration: 12 months

The solution was initially administered with high frequency (or electrical
therapy) to open skin pores - I also took minoxidil tablets for the first
two months. After six months, there was a noticeable improvement (friends
commented etc) and visible vellus hairs appeared.

After 12 months, the vellus hair has NOT become any longer but the hair
loss has virtually been halted and moderately reversed. I am starting 1 mg
finasteride soon. let me know if you are interested in progress reports on
this treatment.

Incidentally, I have also been subject to the hoax that is "Strand by
