| ABOUT
FOLLIGENŽ Most theories of hair loss and thinning hair have focused on the metabolic actions of testosterone metabolites. While testosterone plays a role in hair loss, dermal damage is the ultimate factor in these events. Many men have high testosterone metabolite levels but never suffer hair loss. FolligenŽ is a non-drug product designed to improve scalp health, a pre-requisite for healthy hair growth. It aids hair health by helping the scalp tissue repair itself (such as with seborrheic dermatitis or damage from harsh chemicals, sunburn, and hair dryers). FolligenŽ is especially useful in reducing scalp irritation caused by other hair growth products such as RogaineŽ (minoxidil), Retin-AŽ (retinoic acid) and Propecia. FolligenŽ was designed by Dr. Loren Pickart who previously had successfully designed other clinically-proven products for hair and scalp health such as GraftCyteŽ for improving the success of hair transplants and TricominŽ for stimulating hair growth. FolligenŽ contains the patented Ancilin (US Patents 5,382,431; 5,554,375; 5,698,184), a copper-peptide complex that forms a repair-promoting protective film over the skin and also acts as a superoxide dismutase that can help de-toxify oxygen radicals that delay skin repair. Clinical tests of FolligenŽ's key ingredients have demonstrated that the primary effect is to help the skin improve it's barrier function. Its remarkably positive effect on skin health has been demonstrated in placebo-controlled studies at the University of California at San Francisco. The results of these clinical studies by Zhai, Maibach and Poblete were published in Skin Research and Technology, Volume 4, pages 24-27, 1998, the International Journal of Dermology (May 1998), and presented at the 55th Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in San Francisco (March, 1997), the 58th Meeting of the Society for Investigative Dermatology in Washington, and at the 56 Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in March 1998. A tube of Folligen, used about 4 times per week, should last 30 to 45 days depending on the size of application area. In Skin Biology's clinical studies, a very light coating (approximately 10 milligrams per square centimeter) is applied to the skin which is then further rubbed into the skin. |
