SBI Skin Biology To Receive Two New US Patents
SBI Skin Biology (SBI.V) announced today that the US Patent and Trademark Office has
allowed claims on two new patent applications on improved versions of the Company's skin
regeneration and anti-irritation technology. The new patents will give SBI a total of five
US patents surrounding its technology. SBI has also filed for patent protection in other
major North American,
European, and Asian skin care markets.
SBI is developing, in collaboration with DCNL Inc., a line of skin renewal cosmetics built
around its clinically proven skin technology. DCNL is a manufacturer and distributer of
nationally branded
beauty products. Skin Biology's cosmetic skin and hair products are planned to be
introduced by DCNL through the QVC Shopping Network. DCNL then plans to market the
products to beauty
supply chains in the US and major national retail outlets.
SBI is also developing its technology for therapeutic uses to improve skin quality in
persons "at risk" for serious skin damage. Conditions such as diabetes,
psoriasis, radiation-treatment
for cancer therapy, eczema and immune-deficiency disorders can produce skin breakdown and
the risk of life-threatening infections.
Skin Biology's skin technology has been proven effective in accelerating skin repair and
reducing skin irritation in four placebo-controlled studies directed by Dr. Howard Maibach
in the Dermatology Department of the University of California at San Francisco. The
results of these
studies are currently appearing in dermatology journals.
