• Dr. Lewenberg has a specially formulated topical treatment that combines 2% minoxidil with 0.025% Tretinoin (Retin-A) and other ingredients. Dr. Lewenberg indicates that Retin-A increases the absorption of minoxidil and corrects the build up of DHT on the scalp. DHT is suggested to be the main factor contributing to male pattern baldness. • According to Dr. Lewenberg, his treatment is the "only medical treatment proven to ..(s)top excessive hair loss.... (and) re-grow hair all over the scalp, including the frontal hairline."
• According to Dr. Lewenberg, "Advance in Therapy" published an article indicating that clinical studies have shown that "90% of patients who used Doctor Lewenberg's Formula....regrow their hair back in just three months".

• Long term. Dr. Lewenberg indicates that for patients who respond to the treatment, regrowth of new hair will start in about three months and within 2 years normal hair regrowth can be seen.

• The most unusual about Dr. Lewenberg's topical lotion is its application. According to Dr. Lewenberg, patients are advised against applying the topical lotion directly onto the scalp. The specially formulated lotion is designed to work as a hair spray. In order for the treatment to work, patients are instructed to spray the lotion onto the hair and NOT ONTO THE SCALP. Also, patients are instructed to use the formula four times a day.
• In addition, Dr. Lewenberg gives his patients a mineral based multi-vitamin as a dietary supplement. According to Dr. Lewenberg, the mineral based vitamins will help the newly grown hair become stronger so that it does not fall off easily.
• Dr. Lewenberg's formula is not the only treatment that combines minoxidil with Retin-A. See Long Island Medical Associates for their version of minoxidil plus Retin-A formula which is less expensive than Dr. Lewenberg's. However, it is unknown if the formulas are the same.

I am now 24 years old and have pretty significant hair loss (male pattern baldness). I started this treatment when I was 23 and had noticed that my I was losing my hair for about a couple of years. I didn't want to go through a risky hair transplantation procedure and hair replacements are just not for me (although I've looked into it).

Anyway, I was pretty desperate since I am fairly young and I went to Dr. Lewenberg for help. I eagerly began the treatment with big expectations. I had to spray the formula on my scalp 4 times a day, with 4 hours between each application. Dr. Lewenberg recommends taking a daily multivitamin which he gives you, and I did. It was sort of inconvenient because I had to take the time, 4 times a day no matter where I was, to apply the formula. However, I have to say that within one month i was noticeably less bald and had more confidence.

During the treatment, I was visiting Dr. Lewenberg's office every 3 months in New York and "he" was keeping a photo journal of my progress. I say "he" because I always didn't meet with him, he has other people works with.

All in all I was pleased with the product's performance, but the cost just became too substantial. The doctor tells you it will cost $1,000 for a year in the beginning. But he charges you $70 a bottle (this per bottle charge decreased every 3 months when I bought more bottles) and says 3 bottles will last a month. However, I discovered that for maximum results, this is just not the case. I used about 10-12 bottles every 3 months costing me approximately $1,000 every 3 months. I just couldn't keep up with the cost.

The bottle line - product good; initial cost estimate severely underestimated. Just keep this in mind if you want to try it. Good Luck.

Hi......I just want to say that you have a great site......its very informative......I recently purchased Dr Lewenbergs formula of minoxidil and retin A and I must say its only been a month and a half and I already see good results but it is very expensive....360 dollars for a 3 month supply!!!!!!!!........is there a mixture out there just as effective as Dr Lewenbergs but not as expensive,,,,,,,,although you are busy i would appreciate your help......Thank you.....hope to hear from you soon....
