Having been a hair restoration patient himself, Dr. William Yates is that rare combination of skill and talent encompassed with empathy and understanding for what his patients are emotionally and physically navigating with their hair loss. Several years ago, Dr. Ziering performed hair restoration surgery on Dr. Yates, and they have remained friends, colleagues and now surgical partners for Ziering Medical Worldwide.

Along with his personal hair loss and restoration experience, Dr. Yates brings a depth of medical experience and expertise to Ziering Medical: From 1991 to 2001 Dr. Yates operated a private practice with General Surgery and Trauma Associates in St. Louis, MO, then transitioned to private practice as a General & Trauma Surgeon atCrossroads Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He then served several years in New Mexico as Staff Surgeon in General Surgery at Lovelace Medical Center, Albuquerque, and was affiliated with Albuquerque Regional Medical Center and West Mesa Medical Center. Prior to helping establish Ziering Medical Chicago, Dr. Yates worked with a nationally known hair transplant clinic headquartered in Beverly Hills, California.

A Diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, Dr. Yates is licensed to practice medicine in California, New York, Virginia, New Mexico, Illinois, Missouri, and Michigan. He is also a member of the American Medical Society; a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and The American Society of Bariatric Surgery, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Author and lecturer, Dr. Yates has written numerous articles for publications such as the Journal of the National Medical Association and the Journal of Trauma as well as presenting various procedures and developments to his peers at the DePaul Medical Center in Bridgeton, Missouri, and the Christian Hospital NE in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Yates earned his B.A. in Medical Science from Northwestern University, Illinois in 1983. In 1985 he received his M.D. from Northwestern University as a participant in the six years Honors Program in Medical Education. He completed his surgical internship at Howard University Hospital, Washington, D.C. in 1986 and his General Surgery residency also at Howard University Hospital in 1990. Dr. Yates completed his Fellowship in Critical Care/Trauma at University of Maryland Hospital in 1991.
